Introducing The Centennial Playground at McCambridge Park
The Centennial Playground is a landmark for inclusivity, designed with features to ensure that everyone, regardless of ability, can play and enjoy. As the first of its kind in Burbank, this innovative space sets the stage for more inclusive futures in our parks. The playground is set to be unveiled in February 2025. More details can be found on our Centennial webpage!
As we celebrate 100 years of parks, people, and purpose, we recognize that none of this would be possible without the passion and involvement of our community. These projects are a testament to what we can achieve together, and we’re excited for what’s ahead.

Let’s continue to build spaces where memories are made, connections flourish, and our community thrives
Celebrate the Centennial by capturing the spirit of Burbank Parks and Recreation! We’re excited to announce a photo contest that invites you to showcase how Burbank’s parks, facilities, and programs have brought joy and inspiration into your life. Whether it’s a stunning park landscape, a favorite memory from an outdoor activity, a vibrant community event, or a moment from one of our recreational programs, we want to see it through your lens. Let your creativity shine as you bring the Centennial Theme to life and share the moments that make Burbank Parks and Recreation so special.
The contest is open NOW and closes on March 15, 2025. Visit www.Burbankca.gov/Parks100.
As we celebrate a century of parks, we’re looking ahead to the next 100 years with a commitment to creating spaces that reflect the needs and aspirations of our community. Several exciting projects are already underway, each shaped by community input to ensure Burbank’s parks continue to thrive for generations to come.
Visit BurbankCA.gov/Parks100 to learn more about these projects, explore interactive timelines, view updates, and even find ways to get involved. Here’s a snapshot of what’s in progress:
Launched in September 2023 in partnership with RJM Design Group, this initiative is shaping the future of Burbank’s parks and recreation. By assessing current facilities and gathering community feedback through surveys and outreach, we’re creating a roadmap for long-term growth and development.
Since August 2022, this project has focused on enhancing one of Burbank’s most beloved parks. With input from over 1,450 community members, the plan is shaping improvements to facilities, buildings, and amenities. Most recently, new renderings were unveiled, offering an exciting glimpse into the park’s future.
Burbank’s trees are a vital part of our community, providing beauty, shade, and environmental benefits. In partnership with Davey Resource Group, this plan focuses on expanding and maintaining our urban forest in a sustainable and equitable way. Through data collection and public input, we’re ensuring a greener, healthier future for Burbank.
These projects represent just a few of the ways we’re working to enhance our parks, green spaces, and recreational opportunities. Stay connected and be part of the journey as we shape the next century of Burbank Parks!

kitten's best chance for survival is staying with mom. If you come across a kitten or litter of kittens remember the rule of 8
• If mom is away more than 8 hours, the kittens are likely orphaned and in need of human care.
• Encourage mom to return. Do not hover and maintain a distance of at least 8 feet.
• At 8 weeks old, kittens (and mom) should be spayed/neutered and can be adopted.

Salt & Peppa
This dynamic duo are both high energy and clever. Salt is a little older and plays a little rougher, while also being super smart and curious. Peppa is younger, smaller and goofier, with a stronger attraction to people. They are both stunning in totally different ways- Salt is a husky mix and Peppa is a bull terrier mix. Their differences are part of what makes them such a powerhouse pair- they balance each other out. They’ll also make sure that family gets regular exercise and laughs at their antics every day.
Astrid
Astrid is a LARGE Armenian Gampr weighing in at a healthy 160 pounds. At 3 years old, Astrid is a puppy at heart and seems to be unaware of her larger than life size. More often than not she can be found lost in her own world, running around, jumping in the air trying to catch some wind under her paws. Astrid must have a vivid imagination as she loves hanging out on her own, keeping herself entertained. She enjoys simple things like a dip in the kiddie pool and a fluffy squeaky toy. Astrid is an amazing dog.
