What has BVP staff been up to? Your BVP staff has been busy all summer long attending volunteer conferences and registering for upcoming career fairs including the California State University Northridge Fall Career Fair in October. We've been working hard to bring improvements to the Burbank Volunteer Program for all volunteers to benefit from.

...to better serve YOU! On Friday August 25th, BVP staff attended the DOVIA-LA Education Day conference at the California Endowment Center in Los Angeles. The leaders of Education Day describe it as, "the premier West Coast conference for professional development in the field of volunteer engagement. It is an opportunity for professional development and networking for those working with volunteers in the Greater Los Angeles area. The conference was designed for all levels of the organization, from executive directors and volunteer managers to volunteers themselves." BVP staff experienced a day of learning and networking with other agencies who utilize volunteers on a daily basis. It is our goal to develop strong working relationships with other volunteer agencies to discover new opportunities to engage volunteers in the community.

Service hours for high school The Burbank Unified School District requires all high school students to complete 10 volunteer hours for graduation. The Burbank Volunteer Program has projects that you can sign up for to complete your 10 hours. Call our office today for more information! 818-238-5249

Did you know... There are benefits and awards for serving more than just 10 hours! Most high schools in Burbank will award students for completing 100 hours. You can also receive scholarships for volunteering and it looks great on college applications and resumes. Call the Burbank Volunteer office to schedule a 1-on-1 interview and advisement on non-profit and public agencies that you can get connected with to get started on your 100+ hours.
