CELEBRATING THE LIVES OF
JULY/AUGUST 2018
BURBANK VOLUNTEER
FRANCES DIBONA & GRACE PATZ
the
Frances DiBona Frances DiBona passed away surrounded by her family on Friday, April 13th in Burbank California. She was born on November 4, 1928 in Los Angeles. Frances started volunteering with the Burbank Volunteer Program in July of 2011. Her warm smile and kind disposition was always welcoming to those coming in the Joslyn Center. Frances was insistent on being able to help patrons without the assistance of the staff. Besides volunteering at the front desk, Frances was very passionate about her work with the Mary Stoica Cafe. She enjoyed being of service to others and being able to create a space for conversation, laughter, reminiscing and enjoying the company of others. Frances dedicated over 3100 hours and 6.5 years of service to the Burbank Community. We will forever be grateful.
Grace Patz Grace Patz passed away peacefully in her Burbank home on May 20, 2018 at the age of 104. She was born on December 25, 1913 in San Diego. Grace's passion for volunteerism was prevalent throughout her life. She began her service in 1935 when she was elected President of Gamma Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi sorority and remained an active member for 83 years. Additionally, Grace was a member of the Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center Guild since 1985 and served over 15000 hours. Grace joined the Burbank Volunteer Program in January 2007. She completed 2100 hours of services in addition to her previous volunteer work. Staff could always count on seeing Grace weekly for yoga classes at the Joslyn Adult Center. Her presence will be greatly missed.
Our heartfelt thanks to two wonderful volunteers. the burbank volunteer

Do you DIG BURBANK?
JULY/AUGUST 2018
BURBANK VOLUNTEER
the
In July of 2017 the Parks and Recreation Department eliminated the use of herbicides in the parks. In order to assist the parks crews in maintaining the Burbank parks, Dig was created! Dig invites community members to help keep our parks beautiful through litter clean up, weeding and planting in 4 of our largest parks. So if you have a green thumb and/or are not afraid of getting a little bit of dirt under your nails, Dig is a great way to volunteer and help keep our parks clean and green! This is the perfect volunteer opportunity for the whole family, friends, church groups, work groups, or even to meet new Burbank friends! Upcoming dates are: July 7th @ Johnny Carson July 14th @ McCambridge July 21st @ George Izay July 28th @ Verdugo *A volunteer application must be filled out prior to the day of volunteer service.
