Spring is here! Days are longer and brighter, and plants are blooming all around us. Spring is a wonderful time to appreciate the simpler things in life, and enjoy the beauty of the world around us. This season also marks the one year anniversary of the pandemic. It’s hard to believe that it’s been a year since Joslyn Adult Center first closed. Over this past year, we have all adapted and grown. We’ve found creative ways to connect, learn new technology, and unite together as a community. We have a lot to be proud of, and many things to look forward to! Earlier this year, LA County announced that adults 65+ are eligible for vaccination. Joslyn Adult Center is not a vaccination center, but we will continue to communicate when we receive updated information about eligibility and vaccination opportunities. If you would like to receive updates from our Center, please contact the Joslyn Adult Center to be added to our e-newsletter. Starting April 7, Bingo will change to the first Wednesday of each month. We are currently taking sign-ups for March 31 and April 7. Bingo is sponsored by Regal Medical Group, and is FREE to play! Stay tuned later this month when we will be announcing a couple of new classes and activities coming to the Joslyn Adult Center. If you are interested in learning how to participate in one of our virtual activities, or you have ideas for new activities, please contact the Joslyn Adult Center. We are always open to new ideas! Happy Spring!

SPEAK WITH A HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONAL Do you know someone who would benefit from a no-cost educational health discussion? West Coast University is now offering telehealth appointments with nursing faculty and students. Community members of all ages are welcome to call and learn more about their health concerns.

Scan the QR codes or call the number to speak to a healthcare professional!

LA County Licetz 323-489-8488

Orange County Tanner 949-329-5603

Riverside/San Bernardino Allison 909-312-3325

What is telehealth? WCU’s telehealth program provides nursing students the opportunity to learn while giving back to the community. Since telehealth is conducted over the phone, it is a great way for community members to learn about health concerns without having to visit a doctor’s office.

What kind of health issues can telehealth support? A telehealth appointment can provide you healthcare education in a variety of topics, including: • COVID-19 • Nutrition • First Aid

• Mental Health • Pediatrics • Obstetrics

• Existing Health Conditions • Medication Administration • Senior Health

What should I expect on a telehealth call? Initially, you will be contacted to schedule a time for a telehealth appointment. During your appointment, a WCU nursing professor and students will contact you by phone to discuss any health concerns you might want to learn about. They might ask if they can schedule a follow-up appointment to share additional resources.

What are the benefits? Connect with nursing professionals and students to get better educated about your health, including learning more about COVID-19 safety.
