Fire investigators have deemed that an apartment fire in the Central Northwest area last week was accidental, according to the Houston Fire Department. There were no reported injuries as a result of the fire, according to the department

Crews from Stations 15, 5, 31, 4, 11, 13, 38, 50, 62 and 30 responded to an apartment complex in the 3700 block of Watonga Boulevard just after 4:20 p.m. on March 22 to find smoke coming from the chimney case of the apartment, according to the department.

The department said that after crews extinguished the fire, arson investigators were called in and determined that the fire was accidental, likely caused by an ember that ignited some pine straw combined with debris that was found underneath the wall siding of the apartment unit. HFD did not immediately release how much damage the fire caused to the unit or how much property was saved.
