"The more there is a story behind the birthing of the product, the more special it becomes. The story for this door stopper started in a town in Rajasthan State, India. We received a request from a scrap dealer to buy their antique shoe lasts. Some had a carved seal, some had metal fittings, but each one had a distinct character. How could we utilize these beautiful shoe lasts designed for the Indian people? The thought that came to mind was "it looks like a foot holding a door open." When producing a new item, it is easier to use a new material rather than recycled material. For this door stopper, we only added a few new parts and all of a sudden these retired shoe lasts made out of teak and mango wood were reborn as door stoppers. We wanted to keep the story of this product alive by using the existing raw materials of this shoe last turned door stopper."

"When I stayed at hotels in the countryside of Italy and France, I was attracted to the tiles used in the washrooms and baths. The tiles were very nice, but the bath mats there were all cheap and bland like those you would find in a mass retailer. I pondered over what kind of mat would suit these places, and this TILE PATTERNED JUTE MAT was born. The tile patterns are inspired by Sicily (Italy) and Mykonos (Greece), respectively."

As soon as I arrived at Mumbai airport from a rural area in India, this bag caught my eye. The size of the bag and the color of the fabric made a great impression. This fabric is often seen in India, but I have never seen one with such good coloring. I immediately started looking for the factory.
A few months later, I compared the sample fabric I received with this image, and confirmed that they were roughly the same, and started thinking about what to make. If I were to make a bag using only this fabric , it would end up looking "cute." That's why I wanted to create an industrial look. The handle of the prototype was made of iron. It looked good, but it was heavy and difficult to use, so I decided to make the handle out of aluminum. I also decided to use a water hose to protect the handle.

The handle was found in a market as a belt for school uniforms. The color scheme has a 80s feel. We selected 70 colors from that. We don't know if we'll ever find the same material or color scheme again. The sturdy canvas has a sense of tension and stands up on its own, and when washed and dried in the sun, it becomes firm and dense, giving it a rugged look. In response to complaints that large tote bags often have no pockets, we also created a pouch (College Pass Case) using the same belt.
