"To add value to used materials discarded as trash. To bring new meaning to those that have finished their duties. People may call this recycling, but at PUEBCO, using materials that have been deemed worthless to make people happy at a decent price is where we find the meaning of manufacturing. Using new materials and making items with efficient manufacturing methods is a wonderful industry that produces high quality. However, believing that there is something attractive in the world that cannot be found by efficiency or quality alone, we started this action in 2007. About 80% of the products handled by PUEBCO are customized original items that were inspired by overseas junk items and then made to fit into modern life. The remaining 10-20% are products for professional use and those that feel universal quality and we repeatedly visit factories and markets in India and China to look for them. From our small office in Tokyo, we have continued to introduce new items that are now sold all over the world. As we have done, we will continue to do for people who are not satisfies with products created for the masses. If one or two in a hundred people are pleased, it is good enough. With this thought, we continue to be creative craftsman."
"Feathers of chicken, duck and goose left in a mountain outside of a meat processing factory are washed, dried, and dyed into bright colors to make them into new birds.
These birds are hand made in a northern town of China using these recycled feathers. Unlike a toy they are realistic and there is an attractiveness that you don't see in other stuffed birds.
This item was simply birthed out of impulse instead of out of
practicality or from the results of a market research.
If you wanted to describe what
kind of company PUEBCO is, this series of birds might do the job.

good combination of colors. One day, I saw very very large and very vibrant storage bags
hauling goods through the airport in Mumbai. It took me a year and a half to find a fac-
tory that would make exactly what I saw and product this fabric. The width of the fabric
is narrower than normal cotton or synthetic material, so the size of the bags that can be made is very limited.I decided to start with these four sizes so that there would be no waste during production and are easiest to construct as each is made by hand."

In India, dealers collect these sling belts from construction sites

As a result,
the original sling tote bag was born and we have introduced many new style bags repurposing these salvaged belts.

"We would normally use these poly-
ethylene bags as sandbags in Japan, but in India they are used to carry grain back and forth until they are torn and then they are recycled to use again.
We thought about using
these as one of our items but unfor-
tunately the leftover odor of the recycled bags was too strong.
We ended
up taking the white cylindrical bags, adjusted the depth, sewed the bot-
tom, added handles and made it into a new bag.
The official Puebco store
in Tokyo initially gave these out to the customers as a gesture of appreciation for coming to our store.
But
what was used as a customer's shopping bag became a popular item in itself in the streets of Tokyo.

We
are hoping this bag, originally designed for carrying grain in India, will bring new value to you."

"I heard from an Indian friend that sometimes it takes 72 hours by train to return home from the city.
It's not rare at all to wait for hours to transfer to a long distance
train so there is a lot of time when there is nothing else to do but sleep at the station platform and wait. That's why people would carry bedding like a thin mattress rolled
up and fastened with a belt to spread out on the platform or in the train to catch up on sleep to ease the fatigue of a long journey.
Taking inspiration from this bedding,
we made a compact nomadic mattress that folds up and closes with a belt.
On the upper
part, there is an opening to make a pillow by inserting a jacket or other valuables. protect the mattress from moisture on the ground, the fabric is coated with wax. cover is also removable for washing.
