The Burnaby Citizens Association (BCA) president said the organization will adjust if corporate and union civic election campaign donations are banned even though almost all of the half million dollars it collected in 2014 came from those sources.

The provincial NDP government recent-

ly announced a bill to end corporate and union donations for provincial elections.

The legislation did not, however, include municipal elections although they fall under provincial jurisdiction.

A resolution calling for similar financial handcuffs to be put on municipal campaigns is expected to be discussed at the Union of B.C. Municipalities (UBCM) convention in Vancouver this week.

“If you want to change those rules, that’s fine.We’re not opposed to that,” said BCA president Gord Larkin, who has been involved in municipal politics for about 25 years.

Following the 2014 election, the BCA reported it bagged $508,687 in campaign contributions. Corporate donations totalled $275,550 while trade unions donated $202,220, which accounted for 18 times

the bucks compared to all other donations combined.

“We followed Elections B.C. rules,” said Larkin. “If there’s change, there’ll be change for everybody, it won’t just be change for us.

KenYip is firmly rooted in Burnaby where he’s lived all his life. But the family’s journey here has its genesis in British Columbia’s gold rush days with detours to Canton, rural Alberta, India and the jungles of Burma.

Yip grew up on the family farm on Byrne Road, in an area that is now a mixture of farms and warehouses. It seems his grandfather was the seventh son in his family back in the 1870s and, likely lured by gold, headed to Canada.

“If you’re brother number 7, your piece of the (inheritance) pie is probably nil,” says Yip, who is part of a city community advisory committee researching the history of Chinese Canadians in Burnaby for its 125th anniversary.

Yip has found two mine claims in 1880 and 1881 made out to BenYip, his grandfather on Wild Horse Creek, northeast of Cranbrook. He says the Chinese miners of the time would move in after the big companies moved out, hoping to find any gold dust left behind.

International program receives high honour

For the second year in a row, Burnaby’s international education program has won a STAR award Cornelia Naylor

Herrera Martinez, who is from Mexico, transferred to Burnaby Mountain Secondary from a private Vancouver boarding school and wasn’t so sure at first about attending a public school.

“Public schools in Mexico are kind of a mess,” she told trustees Monday, “but the first day I got here I was just impressed at the quality and the diversity of the classes. It’s just amazing, the clubs.”

Zhang said local school officials have gone out of their way to accommodate her “very, very complicated and long transcript” when she arrived in Burnaby from China via U.S. schools.

She said staff made sure she got the timetables she wanted, that she was involved in the community and that her homestay situation was figured out.

“Everyone was just so helpful,” she said.

Burnaby currently enrols close to 1,500 students from over 40 countries.

The Burnaby school district’s international program must be doing something right.

Besides growing by leaps and bounds, this is the second year in a row the program has won the Study Travel Magazine STAR High School Program Award.

Study Travel Magazine is the leading voice in the international education sector, and the award is a big deal, according to Angela Ferraro, School District No. 41 managing director of international education, “The STAR awards are voted on by student agencies worldwide,” she said at a recent school board meeting. “Therefore, out of all the programs out there, not just Canada, but the U.S., the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, Germany – now Southeast Asia offers these programs as well in English – Burnaby garnered

the most votes by agents.”

The marketing department of the district’s international program has forged solid relationships all over the world with agents who promote the program to parents in their own countries, according to marketing manager Sally Stacy.

But those relationships wouldn’t go very far if international students didn’t have a good time here, she said.

“Without the support of everyone here in SD 41 giving such a positive experience to our international students while they’re here, no amount of hard, dedicated work by anybody on our team, let alone our marketers, would inspire the trust and respect that our agent partners have in our program and in the work that we do,” she said.

For graduating international students Azul Herrera Martinez and Xiaoman (Mary) Zhang, studying at Burnaby public schools has been a positive experience.

What would donation ban do to Burnaby?

There’s little doubt that the entire municipal election system in Burnaby would be different if union and developer donations were banned.

Our story on page 1 and 8 reveals the depth and breadth of how the ruling power in the city has become entirely dependent on groups – groups that have vested interests in currying favour with those

in power.

The Burnaby Citizens Association – the NDP-affiliated civic party – was given $202,220 by unions and $275,550 by developers. The Burnaby First coalition operated on $27,362. Of those funds, $2,150 was from corporations and $21,941 was from individuals.

While money doesn’t guarantee a victory in pol-

itics, it sure makes a big difference. And in politics, it’s often a winner-takes-itall proposition.

Clearly developers understand that, in Burnaby, the safe bet is Derek Corrigan and the party that holds all the seats. Why would they even bother to invest in an opposition party? In fact, if they do, it could actually hurt their relationship with the city.

Even if city politicians deny that they are swayed by such support, surely the appearance of conflicts is unavoidable.

And then, as Ray Power says, “If I’m contributing to your campaign for mayor or for council and I’m appearing before you to have a permit approved, there’s something wrong with that. The defunding by unions and developers

and corporations would get rid of, to a certain extent, that inside track.”

As Kirk LaPointe writes in his column on this page, “It is difficult to turn the clock back on well-heeled financial campaigns.”

It is hard to imagine an election without interest groups’ money. Would individuals rise be willing to fork out money as part of their democrat-

ic duty? Would we end up with only the well-known, and/or rich being able to run for office? Would it, as Power suggests, force wannabe politicians to seek out individual voters, knock on doors and actually listen to voters?

It’s hard to imagine what a donation ban would do to Burnaby politics and this city – but we’d sure like to find out.

Amendment won’t tame Wild West The Wild West is not exactly going to be the Mild West.

John Horgan is seeing to it. And Andrew Weaver is being paid to support it.

The political contributions law introduced by the B.C. NDP government takes toddler steps to deal with the cultural excesses that long ago lost the plot of appropriately financing provincial and municipal election campaigns.

The flawed weakness of the bill wasn’t necessarily a surprise, but the out-of-nowhere decision to wean the parties of private donations by switching them, for at least five years, to the public teat definitely was.

Without a whiff of warning – after six opposition bills earlier without a hint – the NDP in government has decided taxpayers now will provide subsidies to the parties in the form of per-vote funds. If the parties achieve a certain threshold, they can be reimbursed for half of their election expenses. No review of this scheme is coming for five years.

It is a found-money windfall for Weaver. He hasn’t accepted these large donations, but now he gets to accept a large cheque from the government he’s supporting as if he had been – and perhaps reimbursement for half his party’s election expenses.

If big money is coming out of B.C. politics, for the time being, tax money is going in – something Horgan never, ever discussed in the recent election race.

It seems true, as Weaver put it, that the NDP campaign promises are now

irrelevant. Gone in this much-promised legislation is anything approaching a full-court press on the western world’s most generous, freewheeling political campaign financial liberties. If this is the subtlety with which the government thinks it will deftly handle matters of high finance, we are in trouble.

It is difficult to turn the clock back on well-heeled financial campaigns. But by any objective measure, the introduction of the campaign finance revisions was a splendid opportunity to introduce a new culture in this province about big-money dominance of the political landscape.

Instead, what the NDP unfurled Monday was a veneer of measures whose surface can be easily scratched to reveal flaws – and watchdogs were quick to pounce.

Most shocking was the adjustment allowance to make the transition to a more frugal – but easy to defy – system of financing.

Taxpayers will underwrite $27.5 million in subsidies over the next four years.

No question, there are matters to recommend in this bill: a ban on union and corporate donations, a ban on out-of-province donations, and a cap on third-party advertising, among others.

But the $1,200 annual personal donation limit is an open invitation to circumvention. Sighs of relief may now expel. The bad apples, and many well-intentioned and passionate ones, will be able to continue to channel funds Continued on page 7

Dear Editor: Re: Should SFU ditch its Clan name? Burnaby NOW, Sept. 22.

I am a Burnaby resident and have been for most of my 65 years. I completed all my schooling in Burnaby, including five years at university to become a teacher.

Following that, I spent 35 years teaching in Burnaby. My post secondary education was completed at SFU. That’s Simon Fraser University, named after the explorer Simon Fraser, whose heritage was Scottish. Scottish families are called clans so we adopted that name for our teams to further honour Simon Fraser, along with tartans and our pipe band.

Miriam Webster definition of clan: a group of close-knit families especially associated with families of the Scottish highlands. This has nothing to do with any other clan except for the fact that certain people are trying to make an issue of it.

SFU and the Clan teams are part of our B.C. and Canadian history. Why should we have to give up/change/negate our own pride of Scottish heritage because someone decides to take offense and tries to make it into something it is not?

Before people attack a facet of our history and try to force us to change it, perhaps they should learn more about it. Please, enough already.

There are measures to make cabinet minister fundraisers more transparent, but not measures to make one-on-one meetings more so. And the dark-money period between elections is hardly getting a scrub-down; that murky four-year stretch, in which machinery is built and messages defined, doesn’t come in for any scrutiny in the bill.

The happiest of campers must be Weaver, who probably couldn’t believe his good luck when he sat down to consult on the bill.

The NDP say this last election was the last big money election. Unless they’re planning one quite soon, that’s untrue. The subsidies will make scheduled elections through 2022 plenty lavish, if compact-sized compared with what we just experienced.

Still, the bill will have enough seeming clout to appease those who do not dive into the weeds. The scofflaws will still have their way, but we will feel like we’ve done something. Politics can be rich that way.

The Wild West is now the Mild Messed.

An important component to Larkin’s rules revision wish list would be the ability to issue tax receipts to donors. He admitted the BCA and all municipal candidates would be hard pressed to raise money if civic elections were subject to the same regulations being proposed in the provincial legislation.

Ray Power has run up against the BCA machine many a time. Power has run for office in Burnaby three times, most recently for council as part of the fledgling Burnaby First slate in 2014, which collected $27,362 in donations ($21,941 from individuals, $2,150 from corporations and none from unions). He has also managed previous campaigns for the now dormant Team Burnaby.

“Corporate and union donations should be banned completely because of the conflict that exists and the benefit that they get from supporting one group,” said Power.

He’s particularly opposed to civic employee unions that donate to candidates who, if they win, become bosses to the union’s membership and sit across the negotiating table from them.

“They really do have an influence

over them, be it real or imagined.The perception is just wrong that you can contribute to getting somebody elected whom you’re working for,” said Power. “It’s a workplace influence because either way, one’s beholden to the other.”

In the 2014 election, CUPE Local 23, which represents Burnaby civic employees, donated $94,825 to BCA’s campaign coffers, according to documents filed to Elections B.C. The next largest donation was by CUPE B.C. at $29,925. CUPE 379, which represents Burnaby school district employees, also chipped in $11,125 with CUPE’s paramedics local throwing in another $1,000.

Many construction unions also contributed to BCA for a total union contribution of $202,000. But that was surpassed by corporate donations, which tallied $275,550.

“If I’m contributing to your campaign for mayor or for council and I’m appearing before you to have a permit approved, there’s something wrong with that,” said Power. “The defunding by unions and developers and corporations would get rid of, to a certain extent, that inside track.”

Power thinks it’s possible the BCA could actually come under proposed provincial legislation because under its constitution membership in the

provincial NDP is required.

When he was a union member, Power objected to some of his dues going to a party he didn’t necessarily support. He also said it bothered him to get public employee publications with photos showing union-organized phone banks and mailouts advising membership on how to vote.

“That doesn’t even get seen as money they actually contributed,” he said.

Power believes banning union and corporate donations would ensure candidates worked for their money.

“It sure would personalize the campaigns, wouldn’t it? Where you’d have to get out and knock on doors and talk to people, go to malls and shake hands and greet people and tell them what you’re doing, and actually stand for something,” said Power. “People are not going to contribute to you unless they believe in what you’re doing, and that’s exactly why the unions contribute to the NDP. And the contractors are going to do the same thing because they’re going to have their palms greased by doing it.”

Simon Fraser University political science professor David Moscrop told Canadian Press, “There’s no logical reason now or moral justification to not apply it now to the municipal level. It would be ridiculous not to.”

Migrations – Birds and

People opens Friday, Sept.

29 with a tour and talk by artist-curator Taslim Samji at 7 p.m. and a reception in celebration of Culture Days at 8 p.m.

Thirteen local artists are sharing their work, telling stories of immigration that started decades ago –

and, for some, even centuries ago, with journeys that crossed several continents before arriving in Canada.

Their roots trace back to England, Ireland, France, Africa, the Middle East and South Asia.

“Unless you are indigenous to this land, you have

international roots, and either you or your ancestors were once immigrants,” Samji said in a press release.

“For many different reasons, people leave behind the familiar to build a life in a new land, and that transition comes with many challenges. Canada’s cultural

mosaic is constantly changing, and people from all over the globe call Canada home.”

On Saturday, Sept. 30, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., people of all ages are invited to turn out at the Shadbolt Centre atrium to add their own legacy to an interactive

piece of the installation – a map that compares the migration patterns of eight international bird populations with the migration routes of local residents and their families to Burnaby.

The exhibition runs until Oct. 23.

WHAT’S THE PLAN FOR RUN FEST? Well, it’s a charity run so you’re going to have to get a little sweaty.

The event kicks off with some warm-up exercises then it’s time for the five-kilometre run (and don’t worry, I’m sure the organizers wouldn’t mind if you walked).

After the run, it’s time for a 30-minute yoga class followed by an after party with a live DJ, food and beer.

DETAILS, PLEASE. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 30 at Burnaby Lake. Meet near the Burnaby Lake Rugby clubhouse (at Sprott and Sperling).

SFU building now a leader in energy efficiency Cornelia Naylor

Only a couple years ago, a single fume hood in one of SFU’s chemistry labs used enough energy to heat three houses for a year.

Such waste is a thing of the past in the renovated Shrum Chemistry Building

on the Burnaby campus.

The 50-year-old building went through intensive renovations and upgrades starting in 2011 and recently earned a LEED Gold rating for its new systems for water-use efficiency and reduction, optimized energy performance and waste management.

The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Canada rating system is an internationally recognized mark of excellence for sustainable building.

Among the efficiency upgrades in the Shrum labs are new fume hoods that exhaust 50 per cent less

air when the sash is closed – meaning the building is venting less of the air its air conditioners use energy to cool.

“Exhausting conditioned air is wasteful,” says Ken MacFarlane, director, facilities and technical operations in the dean of science office.

In comparison, UBC boasts 10 LEED Gold certified buildings and has 15 more projects pending certification.

Moving forward, however, SFU will aim for LEED Gold certification or higher on new buildings, like the

SFSS Student Union Building in Burnaby and the Sustainable Energy and Environmental Engineering building in Surrey, according to facilities services development manager Wendy Lee. “It’s written into our requirements in terms of design,” she said.

Volunteers with Friends of the Carousel moved the merry-go-round machinery from a warehouse where they had been working on restoring it to its permanent new home at the Burnaby Heritage Village. Kids take their lead where they find it. Sometimes parents steer kids in one direction, their experiences at school in another.When it comes to food, there is little doubt every child, for better or worse, develops eating habits from a very early age.

After all, we love to eat.

Sunday Harrison is the coordinator of Green Thumbs Growing Kids (www.greenthumbsto.org).

She works collaboratively with the school board in a cluster of elementary schools in high-need neighbourhoods.

“Children are growing up in highrise communities without access to green space and fresh growing food. Research shows that positive attitudes towards nature are formed in childhood,” she says.

I would agree kids can learn a lot by growing their own food and it is impossible for me to imagine a parent who does not feel the

same way. Here are a few of the benefits kids enjoy when they grow their own food: Universal language.

“We witness the power of gardening to unite people through the universal language of food; our programs reach all ages at various times during the year,” Sunday explains. Green Thumbs partners with schools to integrate lessons of gardening with curriculum expectations in science, language, art, mathematics and social studies.

Worms, squirrels and humans. We are not alone.

And the gardening experience helps kids to understand we share the natural world with a myriad of other creatures. In fact, the lesson here is not just that living things share our outdoor space with us, but in some cases, the land was their home first. At least we get to go “home” to our own bed at the end of the day.

Who benefits? Seventy per cent of the kids in the program come from first-generation immigrant families, including many

refugees.The kids and volunteers who help to deliver the program are encouraged to taste, harvest and take food from the school garden home. Better food = better nutrition = better learning.

This year, there are more than 3,000 kids reached by the program.

“What about summer?” After all, that is when a healthy harvest is made or broken. A great deal of the watering, weeding and harvesting all take place while kids are off school for up to 10 weeks.

She replies, “Youth staff run weekly drop-in evenings for

families to care for and harvest the gardens all summer, and local day campers visit – many are the same children who planted in spring.”

The gardens provide summer youth programs with the perfect space for teaching healthy food preparation, art, music, meditation and yoga. “Beyond summer jobs, youth in our programs have opportunities to earn money through our social enterprise, gardening and residential properties.”

in-the-garden question: If the idea of Green Thumbs Growing Kids is so wonderful, shouldn’t the government hop on board and support school boards to offer such programs?

“Canada remains the only industrialized country without a national school food policy,” Sunday states emphatically. “Most successful, long-term school gardens are either supported by community organisations or are located in highincome school districts.”

I considered this answer when I read an article in the Washington Post by Shannon Brescher Shea titled How Gardening Can Help Build Healthier, Happier Kids. In it, she optimistically states gardening in households with kids increased by 25 per cent in the U.S. between 2008 and 2013.

“The natural stimulation of being outside seems to replenish minds exhausted from practising self-discipline. It re-energizes the part of the brain that controls concentration, checks urges and delays gratification.”

I am encouraged by this and hope that Canadians are following suit – or will take an opportunity to lead the way. I know this about our veggie-growing habits: seed rack sales of vegetables are up about 20 per cent across the board and have been tracking increases for the last five years.

Shea suggests research points to the benefits to young children who eat dirt.They develop microbiome or a personal microbe ecosystem. Although there are some microbes – bacteria, fungi and viruses – that make us sick, many more are essential to our health.”

I reflect on my late mother’s attitude toward my penchant for eating dirt as a young child. Much like her attitude toward outdoor activity generally, there was this benign-ness about it all. “Just make sure you are home before dark.”

I think that my microbiome has served me well over the years.

Ranked No. 5 is nice, but tourney play will set the table for sr. girls

When it comes to volleyball, Kim Or doesn’t believe you can have too much of a good thing.

The Moscrop Panthers senior girls volleyball coach saw just that during tryouts, where so many players tried out that he created a second Panthers roster.

Getting bumped in last year’s Burnaby-New West semifinals, after posting a 5-1 record in league, won’t provide much motivation as all but two on this year’s A team – which Or has labelled Team Blue – are Grade 11s.

Of the team’s Grade 12s, only Mari Wong played last year; incoming senior and starter Camilla Di Vito is a transfer student from Italy.

In fact, the biggest experience most players bring to the court was a strong 8-0 run last year that took them to the Vancouver & District junior final.

“This group I’ve had since Grade 9, coached them in school and club, and Grade 10 last year we won the whole thing,” recalled Or. “This year we take on another challenge – let’s qualify for the provincials and go for it.These girls are unbelievable. Good kids – the culture is really good.”

Team Blue jumped into the thick of the Bur-West league on Wednesday with a season-opening 3-0 win over New West, and already has a pair of tournaments under its belt to bolster a B.C. No. 5 ranking.

They opened up by sweeping the Seaquam tourney, beating No. 6-rated South Delta in the final. At UBC last weekend, they finished a respectable 18th despite missing three key players.

“All of a sudden they put us fifth in (B.C.), right off the bat.We managed to tough it out (at UBC) and finished 18th out of 44 teams, which is pretty good, with just seven players at the end of the tournament,” said Or. They were in a pool with 4-A No. 2-ranked Earl Marriott, Lord Byng and SirWinston Churchill,.This weekend it’s off to the Vancouver Island University tourney, and next week to Kelowna for the University of B.C.Okanagan Invitational.

Tournament action will go a long way to preparing them for a route to the provincials, with Burnaby expected to host the Lower Mainland championships in November.

Brothers bind SFU’s soccer success Polisi brothers bring sibling chemistry to No. 2-ranked Clan’s soccer lineup

They’re not twins and they don’t really follow hockey, so any comparison to the Sedin twins pretty much falls flat with Simon Fraser University’s Polisi brothers, Marcello and Matteo.

But the way they’re firing the offence for SFU’s men’s soccer team, it’s hard not to evoke the Vancouver Canucks’ superstar siblings.

In fact, in their first game together for the Clan, Matteo scored twice and Marcello had another in an 8-0 win over Mary University. Against the St. Martin’s Saints last Saturday, Matteo scored the game’s first two goals, while Marcello delivered a stifling performance at midfield in SFU’s 5-1 win.

That’s kind of always the way it’s been for the Polisi brothers since they were little, following in the cleat steps of their older brother Luigi, who played for provincial teams and had a stint with the UBC Thunderbirds.

Marcello, the defensive-minded midfielder, feeding passes to Matteo, an attacking midfielder with a knack for finishing.

Only a year apart in age — Marcello is older — the brothers played together through their early years of minor soccer in the Coquitlam Metro-Ford system.

It’s only when they hit high school where their paths diverged. Matteo spent several seasons in the Vancouver Whitecaps FC and Portland Timbers’ residency programs while Marcello stayed closer to home, helping the Dr. Charles Best Blue Devils win a AAA high school provincial championship in 2015.

But with a bond forged by years of working out together, kicking the ball around in playgrounds and their backyard, and soccer conversations around the family dinner table, it’s like Marcello and Matteo had never been apart when they reunited in a development league this past summer.

“Whenever I get the ball, my first look is to find Matteo,” Marcello said.

“I know what types of passes he likes to play,” Matteo said. “I know to find the areas where he likes to kick the ball.”

That kind of brotherly instinct made the Polisi brothers a prized catch for SFU coach Clint

Schneider, who spent considerable time and energy wooing them to his program.

“When you have good players, lots of teams are interested in them,” Schneider said.

Marcello was the first Polisi to ascend Burnaby mountain, but his freshman season was washed out by an injury. So being able to line up alongside his younger brother is like a fresh start.

“It was pretty cool,” he said.

“We complement each other for sure. It’s just really automatic.”

Having his older brother to lead the way has helped Matteo adjust to university soccer. And life, as the Polisis also tend to hang out together away from the pitch as well.

“It helps me to get to know the guys,” Matteo said.

The soccer part has looked easy, as the younger sibling sits with a team-leading five goals in six games.

Schneider said the family atmosphere he tries to build for his team is helped when he’s got brothers in the dressing room.

And the Polisis aren’t the only SFU siblings there, as he’s also got the Jones brothers, Adam and Kyle.

“You want players who all care about each other,” Schneider said. “When you have that culture, there’s endless possibilities.”

The primary one this year for the Clan is to achieve the national title that eluded the team last year when they were upset by Cal Poly Pomona in the second round of the NCAA playoffs.

With five wins and a tie to start the season, SFU has already risen up the national rankings from 13th to third, and now No. 2 overall.

Coupled with the chemistry that the Polisis and Jones bring to the pitch, Schneider said the next step is attainable.

“At the end of the day, there’s only so much I can do to prepare a team,” Schneider said. “It’s a player’s game and they decide whether it’s a positive result or a negative result.”

For the Polisi brothers, negative is not an option.

“You can always count on one another to bring you up and get you going,” Marcello said.

SFU, who visit California State for a game tomorrow (Saturday), returns home to host Northwest Nazarene on Thursday, 7 p.m. at Terry Fox field.

Knights continue to dominate Senior varsity football team has yet to allow a point in AAA action

It’s not the central focus, but the shutout streak that St.Thomas More has compiled over three games of B.C. AAA football play is beginning to gain attention.

On the heels of last Friday’s 28-0 triumph over the Kelowna Owls, the Knights are feeling pretty confident these days as they head into Week 2 of the regular season.

Admittedly, keeping the shutout string going is insignificant in the whole picture, but head coach Steve De Lazzari said the players are feeling pretty good about it.

“It’s a testament to their football IQ, and how many of them are able to read the play and understand the adjustments as the play is going on,” said De Lazzari.

“I’d say our defence takes a lot of pride in that.”

Among the defensive studs have been nose tackle Sam Steele, who collared

10 tackles last week, including four quarterback sacks, and two-way powerhouse Tyler Eckert, who racked up four QB sacks as well as 120 yards rushing. Contributing eight tackles was Jonah Fridfinnson. “(Steele) was very much a dominating force and continues to be tough to block out,” said De Lazzari.

“(Eckert) is so fast when he’s coming off the edge that other teams can’t hold him.”

For the third straight time, More opened the scoring on their first drive, a lengthy march ending with Eckert carrying it in from five yards. Quarterback Dario Ciccone completed nine of 14 pass at-

tempts, hitting Fridfinnson with a 24-yard TD throw.

Michael Simone rounded out the scoring on a 50-yard punt return.

The Knights have outscored the opposition 100-0 so far, with Centennial lining up tonight (Friday) as the next test. Kick-off is at 7 p.m. at Coquitlam’s Percy Perry Stadium.
