Welcome

Welcome to Buy Art Fair 2015 We are back with a bang at Old Granada Studio for the eighth edition of the North’s leading art fair! With the largest collection of galleries and artists at any event outside the capital, Manchester’s Buy Art Fair is full to bursting with even more original, affordable and unmissable art for you to choose from. In exciting new developments this year we have incorporated an additional studio dedicated to artists selling their work directly to you. The two gallery studios have expanded to include even more national and international galleries showcasing the work of new talent and established big name artists. The Manchester Contemporary continues to forge ahead featuring the bold and the brave, with more galleries from across the country exhibiting. While you are here why not roll up your sleeves and make your very own piece of art in the wonderful print workshops hosted by Hot Bed Press in the Artists Studio. Head over to Artisan café bar to enjoy our mini music festival, live painting demos, and kid’s area to keep your little artist entertained.

Opening Times

And finally we would like to thank our most important supporter YOU! Whether you spend £50 or £5000 your purchase isn’t just something lovely for your home it’s much more than that. By buying original art you are directly supporting artists and the galleries that invest in and nurture their talent. So THANK YOU. Have fun, enjoy your Buy Art Fair and see you all next year.

The Manchester Contemporary / Guided Tours The Manchester Contemporary was established to present the best in critically engaged contemporary art by emerging artists of regional, national and international repute. Our commitment to risk-taking and focus on the bold and the new fits well with Manchester’s long history as a city of radical thought and action, and we are proud to provide a vital initial platform for artistic talent. Manchester is undergoing a cultural renaissance which has seen the launch of HOME, the reopening of The Whitworth, and global media recognition everywhere from the BBC to the New York Times. The Manchester Contemporary sits at the heart of this dynamic, and therefore 2015 will be our strongest year yet, attracting a plethora of leading galleries and significant collectors.

Gallery Profile Originally from South Yorkshire and graduated from Sheffield Art College, I have been a full-time painter since 2000 and have held solo exhibitions and exhibited at art fairs throughout the UK. I am told that my work is vigorous and energetic. I am currently influenced by the Welsh landscape of Clwyd, and the urban environment, however, my most recent work reflects my interest in ‘family history’ – hence a series of ‘figure-scapes’, searching for the rhythm of land and figure. All of this I have developed in my recently completed M.A. Fine Art course at Glyndwr University, N.Wales

Sarah Stokes Fine Art

Gallery Profile I am a contemporary watercolour artist from the Midlands. I take my models from the animal world – from forests, gardens and the countryside. The subjects’ eyes tend to be the focus of the painting. I love the luminosity that watercolour can bring to a piece as well as its unpredictability.

Tom Lewis

Gallery Profile My style is influenced by borrowed mythology, Japanese wood block prints, urban texture, and whimsy, amongst many, many other things. I usually paint pictures, but am occasionally seduced by the prospect of making something in three dimensions, and spend months wasting both time and money doing so. Mostly money.
