It’s the right place for the white face. There are unlimited advantages to using Hereford bulls on your straight black or red cows.
FERTILITY Time and time again the black baldy F1 female posts our highest pregnancy rates in our commercial heifer program. American Hereford Association data shows a 7% pregnancy advantage of a black baldy female compared to her straight bred counterpart!! We have always beat this difference.
EFFICIENCY It takes less feed for us to run our black baldy females, and they still provide more output. Dr. Lalman at Oklahoma State University found that black baldy females consumed 2 pounds less feed per day and were a 0.5 body condition score better!! SHE SIMPLY DOES MORE WITH LESS!!!
LONGEVITY Often our customers tell us they had to ship their 8-10 year-old Hereford bull because they couldn’t use him anymore due to having too many daughters in the herd. Herefords are built to last and structure breeds on, these baldy females will flat last. Plus Herefords continue to receive Industry praise for genetic resistance to PAP and congestive heart failure in the feedlot. DOCILITY • FERTILITY
PRODUCTION EFFICIENCY FEED EFFICIENCY IN THE PASTURE AND FEEDLOT
Some of the biggest yearling, feedlot, and cow calf producers in the US are Hereford bull customers of ours. These are guys that own their cattle the whole way through harvest. The biggest we deal with have been pleased with the end product performance of our genetics and enjoy the cheaper cost of gains at closeout time.
We like feeding cattle and certainly don’t mind standing behind our genetics. In fact, maybe one day cattle will be traded on their genetics and quality opposed to hide color but until then bring us your red hided sort offs. Bring them to either of our sales and we will give you an equal price for what their contemporaries brought in bull credit.
This fall we have simply run out of baldy females to find for people. The baldy female is only going to get more expensive as we rebuild the nations cowherd so it’s time to start making your own. American Hereford Association data over a 10year simulation, shows baldy females return $90 more in net income per year and $300 more in net worth per year than their straight bred counterparts.
When we came to Jason and the Hoffman Ranch, we were looking for Hereford bulls to breed our Angus-based cows. In our operation we do a little of everything. We have two feedlots, a cow/calf herd, and we background and breed heifers. The feedlot is our largest component of the business, and most cattle are harvested on the grid. First and foremost, we were looking for bulls that excelled in carcass traits so calves out of the cow/calf herd would rise to the top in the grid. We also raise our own heifer’s so moderate milk and fertility are also important to our operation. Finding multiple bulls year in and year out speaks to the knowledge that Jason has and what the cattle industry needs.
What we found by buying bulls from Hoffman Ranch has far exceeded our expectations. Not only did we find bulls that help our cattle excel on the grid. We have found heifers that have turned into fantastic moderate framed cows, who are good milkers and breed back year in and year out. The calves from these bull’s pack pounds on in the feedlot and year after year exceed expectations on the grid.
Outisde of filling our void that we were looking for in bulls. Jason has also helped forge relationships with other cattlemen and cattlewomen in the industry to help fill our pens with cattle sired by Hoffman genetics that we know will perform.

It’s with great enthusiasm we bring you the strongest offering of bulls we have ever offered. We try to make it known that we focus on “balance”. Chasing fads and some EPD’s is a slippery slope. We want cattle that combine economic importance starting with structural quality, efficiency, huge maternal traits, and most importantly… fertility! All numbers and EPD’s past that are gravy. However, we do set parameters on both breeds where we feel there is need for improvement.
We send bulls throughout to some extremely tough regions of the U.S. and feel that’s where they really shine. Our advantage has always been structural soundness, and eye appeal. We believe in the structure and longevity of our bulls so much that we have started A 3 YEAR FOOT GUARANTEE!! All bulls should easily be able to handle this, or we don’t expect you to be satisfied. We still cover the first breeding season as well.
This fall we have seen some wild markets and opportunities for many outfits to heal up some from the past few years. Even at times like this, one thing remains the same… There is definite separation for better genetics! We demand the best and don’t expect our customers to settle for any less.
As stated before, Stellpflug Cattle Co. has a big offering in this sale. Andy Stellpflug has made a huge impact in our program as well as both the Hereford and Angus breeds. A lot of these bulls are born right here in the Sandhills. Some people don’t have any cooperators and that’s commendable. However, this offering of 375 bulls is the very top selection of over 600 bulls, to get to this point there is serious quality control! We want to bring the very best to our bull sales. The bulls are developed for longevity and expected to survive. We work just as hard on our cow herd to ensure that every bull sold has a mother that we would be proud to show you.
It sure feels like the best things are yet to come and we hope that ranching families across our nation can bring that next generation back! No matter the hardships. Knowing our Lord and living in Rural America provides us with the highest quality of life one can hope for.

This is an outside bull that we used and we are awfully glad we did. His sons are real beef bulls. They are stout, thick ended, and efficient. This bull really carries through a tremendous amount of marbling and boosts several EPD’s throughout. We think he’s an excellent tool to move the breed forward. Bulls like this are unique because you don’t sacrifice eye appeal or quality to get added marbling. His mother is one of the most famous cows in the breed at this time. Owned by Churchill Cattle Co. and Birdwell.

Thedford did everything that he was needed to do with a lot of added bonuses. As a sire group, these cattle are extremly gentle and are high performance cattle that come light at birth. He’s a unique combination of scrotal circumference and maternal traits. We love the daughters we’ve calved out of him. They make excellent mothers and are extremly fertile. Thedford sons topped many of the leading sales throughout the Angus breed last spring. Owned by ST Genetics.
Bar None is a consistent sire that is as good of son as 3839 has produced to date. His progeny at Hilltop Angus were a highlight of last falls Montana Angus tour. The bull himself has been extremely popular as he is a standout for phenotype, volume, and thickness. A Bar None son topped our fall of 2024 Sale. Owned with Hilltop Angus in Montana and GENEX.

We were the runner up bidder on North Star and probably should have pursued him harder. He’s a true calving ease bull but offers so much more on the other end. These cattle have real muscle shape and I think he’s a good bull to use as we feel the Angus breed could use a real shot of muscle back in their cattle. He’ll make a first calf heifer look good. His granddam was purchased by Stellpflug Cattle Co and that’s a good testament for the cow power behind this bull. Owned by GENEX, Bear Mtn Angus Ranches, and Linz Heritage Angus.

We really should not be selling this horse because he fits everybody around the ranch. He’s been hauled to several world series team ropings, have won money on him as well as fast times. He’s been ranched on by the kids, he’s a go to horse for brandings or anything around the ranch. Nothing will rattle him. He’s a big stout horse and one of the best head horses we’ve had. Call Jason with any questions.
This is a great mating of two really good dogs that we feel out produce themselves. This mating gets more aggressive as they mature. They have great minds, fast learners, and great work ethic with natural ability. The pups have a lot of drive, respect, and great personalities. Charlie is extremely curious and quiet. This pup is offered by the Hoffman Kids.
