buffalo bites monthly feature It has been an electrifying entry into the year so far at Crown Works Studio, my producorial home in the Midlands, UK. We’ve been recording and mixing, testing new guitar amplifiers, producing a rap album (my first one) for a very talented young guy, and introducing a variety of new artists to my mixes and the studio with regard to future bookings. Also Audient, the company that makes our amazing preamps are also currently in communication about some exciting plans for the coming year so watch this space for news on that too. A few of you may have taken advantage of the recent deal on the Waves Audio plugin series the SSL 4000 Collection? We did too! Decorate For Valentine’s Day Seems you either do or do not decorate for Valentine’s Day. If you do, are you wondering what to do for this Valentine’s Day that will add some color to your winterladen home decorating? It isn’t necessary to spend tons of money on decorations for your home. Here are some ideas to show your loved ones you care, without breaking the bank!
> Set a heartwarming table for your Valentine with a pretty, shabby chic look. Use a lace tablecloth over a dreamy soft, red or pink fabric. Don’t have a lace tablecloth or have lots of kids and a lace tablecloth won’t work? Place a washable table runner down the center of your table then decorate with coordinating heart shaped candle holders, a white wicker basket of chocolates or a vase of red roses. Serve a warm meal and voile, you are showing some instant love.
> JoAnn Crafts has some great Valentine’s projects that you and your family can create too. Speaking of creating, Avery has some very cute and free Valentine’s items you can use to decorate your home too. > Don’t want to make your own Valentine’s decorations? Most of the big retail stores are trying to sell their stock right now and you can pick up some really cute Valentine’s decorations at a good price. Let your imagination flow and use what you have around the house.
Remember, it is not the price that is spent, it is the thought that counts. Show your loved ones you care this Valentine’s Day with some simple, hand-made decorations and a warm, home-made meal. It could mean as much to your loved one as that expensive restaurant meal!
> Fresh flowers can add to the mood and if beautiful flower shop arrangements are not in the budget, check out your local retailers like Walmart, etc. for a decent selection of flowers. If you want flowers that last longer than a week or two, consider using silk florals. They are beautiful and can be saved from year to year.

valentine’s homemade goodies A simple pizza and dessert with strawberry hearts is a nice touch to any Valentine’s Day Celebration! Here are two recipes for making a homemade pizza and mini ice cream cups called ‘Strawberry Delights’ for dessert. Simple homemade goodies that even the kids can help with. It involves the whole family with Mom, Dad and kids; in the end everyone will have a good time.
Valentine’s Pizza With Little Hearts
> 1 14” pizza dough (you can buy prebaked crust or frozen pizza dough)
> 2 tbsp tomato basil pasta sauce (can be substituted with any tomato sauce)
> 1 cup grated mozzarella cheese > ½ cup shredded parmesan cheese > 10-12 pieces pepperoni (cut like little hearts) > 1 green bell pepper (cut like matchsticks) > 1 red onion (sliced) Method Preheat oven to 400 Degrees F. Roll and stretch the pizza dough to form a disk of 12-14”. If using prebaked crust, simply place the pizza crust on a round pizza platter. Spread the tomato sauce evenly. Spread the mozzarella cheese over the tomato layer. Arrange the pepperoni all over the dough so that they look like mini hearts on the pie. Place one
bell pepper stick over each pepperoni heart so that it looks like a cupid’s arrow over a heart. Also put onions in the empty places. Sprinkle parmesan cheese on the top and bake till the crust is light brown (soft and a little crunchy) and the cheese melts (about 10-15 minutes). Cut into wedges and serve hot.
Strawberry delights
> 6 brown small muffin cups > 1 pint vanilla or strawberry ice cream > 6-8 graham crackers (crushed finely) or mini tart shells > 1 bottle chocolate syrup > 1 jar of strawberry jam > 4-5 medium strawberries (cut into halves to look like hearts) Method Arrange the muffin cups on a tray. In a bowl mix the graham cracker pieces with the chocolate syrup. Place 1 tsp in each cup and line the base. Alternately, you can use mini tart shells and squeeze some chocolate syrup in it. Next put 1 scoop of vanilla or strawberry ice cream on the chocolate-graham cracker layer. Top with ½ tsp of strawberry jam and 1 strawberry half. Serve immediately or place the tray in the freezer till everyone is ready for dessert. Let the kids put the jam on top and decorate with the strawberry hearts.
Note: You can buy the pizza dough and all the ingredients at your local grocers’. Feel free to get more creative with it! All Rights Reserved BWD Magazine • www.bwdmagazine.com • 9

oluwanimee is a minstrel with amazing vocals who is spreading the gospel and her love for God with the help of her music. The Nigerian born UK based artist has been a gospel singer for many years and has lots of merits in her successful life. Being a choir director for more than five years at the Hilltop International Christian Centre Port - Harcourt Rivers state, Toluwanimee is truly dedicated to her vision and believes that music is a form of worship. Her passion is to awaken and compel people into God’s presence through worship. Her music has a higher level of intellectuality and profound, deep-rooted philosophy that makes one ponder upon their relationship with God and that is what she aims to do with her music: bring people closer to God and inspire the spiritual side in them. Her style of music is mostly Urban Praise or Gospel/ Negro Spiritual but she sometimes also likes to challenge Jazz tunes and put her powerful vocals into Jazz music. While being a biomedical scientist and a cancer research specialist, she is currently working on her album project with the help of renowned producers such as Wole Oni, Evans Ogboi and a few others. Her latest single titled ‘Forever’ is due for release early February. This song produced by Evans Ogboi was received by Toluwanimee in the place of deep meditation and prayer to God, and it is her prayer that as people worship with this song, they will encounter the eternal God. The song itself is a song of worship that speaks about finding one’s spiritual side and their connectivity with their creator. In this song she speaks about being truly devoted to God for he is the one and only. Here is what Toluwanimee herself had to say about the melody ‘Forever’, “I was in my quiet place in a deep session of worship and while just meditating on the supremacy of God, and His word, how he says a thing and it is settled forever and the song came to me, all of the chorus and the first verse and so I decided to record it, while recording my producer asked if I had a bridge, I didn’t and he said go get one and I went back to that same place of worship and there it was I got the bridge ‘let praise rise to you, you are holy, you are holy’. I am totally blessed and lifted by this song and I pray that you are blessed and lifted.”

When & were you called into the music ministry? The call has always been visible right from way back, and people would always point me to it when I ministered from children to teenage and finally adult choir, but as I grew it became more and more evident. Who would you like to work with in the future? Darlene Zecheck, Kim Burell. Do you play any musical instruments? My instrument is my voice, I do not have the skill of playing a musical instrument but my talented husband does, learnt how to play the keyboard on his own when he was 5 years old . In some years to come, would you have any regrets about your choice of becoming a Gospel artiste? No only fulfillment cause it’s my purpose. How do you balance your music with other obligations - mate, children, job, etc.? Wisdom and more wisdom, sometimes one has to give way for the other but wisdom and understanding from the parties involved solves the puzzle. Who are your main influences as far as singers (local & foreign) are concerned?
CeCe winanas, Karen Clark sheard, Yolanda Adams, Israel Houghton, Kim burell and many others. When you are not in the studio recording or performing live, what can a person find you doing? In the laboratory, spending time with my kids , at the cinema. In a few words, describe your upcoming project? I would use the same phrase I used for a worship concert I hosted in 2013, “NOT JUST A SONG “but rephrase it a little “NOT JUST WORSHIP”. My upcoming project is a dual project; a worship album and one representing my roots (Africa), however it’s not just worship but an encounter that would leave a hunger for more of him. Any final words or shout out? Shoutout to Reverends Chris and Stephanie Oarhe, Pastor O Efueye, my Big Sis in Music Pastor Isabella Ogo-Uzodike, Eloho Efemuai, and Chapel of Life Church and all my inspirations and fans.

4 Reasons why you can Eat But ter during the February Blues For 50 years we have told patients to not eat saturated fats like butter to avoid heart disease. It made sense, eat fat and it turns into fat in our bodies, but guess what, we were wrong. Let me outline four reasons and tips why you can eat butter and all other saturated fats you want this February to brighten you up and explain why carbs are the real problem in our diet.
eat all the butter you want With new advanced lipid testing, and in particular particle analysis, we now know that butter, and similar fats, are not dangerous for us. They do increase the bad cholesterol (LDL), but they are the large and foamy ones that can’t get into blood vessel walls. The real villains are the carbohydrates and the insulin surges that generate and increase the small LDL molecules that can and do get into blood vessels causing heart disease. I can still see Julia Child throwing that stick of butter into the cooking pot!
1.
14 • BWD Magazine • www.bwdmagazine.com
eat steak over carbs While you can eat all the butter you want, cut out the carbs! For 20 years Dr. Adkins advocated a low carb diet, and over the years, at least eight studies have shown that this diet is best for losing weight, keeping it off and improving blood sugar and lipid levels. You see, the real villain is the insulin that they release that is a growth factor for aging. You’re looking at diabetes, heart disease and cancer. Therefore, eat that steak instead and the “Blues” will fade away.
2.
eating snickers is ‘OK’ We know that all carbs are not bad, and that the simple ones like sugar are the worse. The good news is that there is a way to measure them, and it’s called the Glycemic Index. Anything under 55 on the Glycemic Index is OK to eat because that tells you that it is a slow absorber and has a low insulin response. Surprise, a Snickers bar is under 55, which may suffice for a healthy Valentine’s present.
3.
marinate in vinegar & eat beans
There are several little tricks that we can do to our food to decrease absorption rates, and therefore eat bad food too. Marinating in vinegar and eating beans with the meal will do this very thing, which helps buffer the bad guys.
4.
Besides the good side effects, the food will taste even better especially with the marinating and that fits right in with that special Valentine’s dinner. Nothing says, “I love you” more than a steak dinner.

His new book Fountain of Youth: Nutritional Therapies (Carrel Books/Skyhorse Publishing) is due for release in July 2015.
MONTHLY ‘TIPS’ COLUMN
So this February, enjoy your butter, steaks, snickers and any other saturated fat you want, but avoid the carbs, which includes bread, pasta, potatoes, peas, carrots, corn, and more. You won’t be hungry, your weight will come down, your blood tests will look REAL good, and you’ll be in a good mood. And lastly, you will be around for a long time with your Valentine’s special person!
Bon Appetite!

Y
oung, gifted and dangerous with his lyrics and style, it is evident Hip-hop is still alive. Hip-hop is an essence of an era that is both cultural and spiritual. In order for one to understand hip-hop one has to become Hiphop. Hip hop is history in the making and a native of Chicago Illinois, Fred Milla is the true definition of real hip hop. Fred Milla, is intelligent, sophisticated, driven, outspoken, and beguile. Merging, street knowledge, wisdom, truth and life experiences are just some of the many reasons he is captivating and intriguing. Strong and ambitious, Milla is ready to start carrying the torch and teach his audience why he is true Hip-hop. Fred Milla is a breath of fresh air and his music is spoken word. A victorious rapper, writer and performer began his journey at age seven. By age eleven he began writing and recording tracks in the studio. At age twelve he was a member of two groups, Domination Lique and Fatal Lique. Wanting to establish himself as a solo artist, he started working harder and dedicated more of his time to music. Hip hop became a part of his every day life and instead of being like every other rapper, he created his own sound, style, and gave music a new definition. When Milla writes music he wants his audience to visualize exactly what he is proclaiming. “I have a different style of music, I tell the truth, and I make real music because I tell stories about my life. Anything you hear on a record I am doing or have done.” He is independent, grateful and determined. Knowing he can do and be better is the reason he will not fall victim to his music. Milla is a natural born talent. Inspired by many to “stop the nonsense and all of the garbage music out today”, Fred Milla is working on an album titled Doom’s Day. Doom’s Day is the rising of a new king whose music is honest, inspirational and has quality. His lyrics speak for themselves and it is evident, he is the next big rising star hailing out of Chicago. As a young child he was a huge fan of Nas, 2Pac and his two older brothers, which can be attributed to his sound and message. Growing up in a huge family, being the second youngest of seven children was bright, smart and a go-getter. Despite having a rocky and sometimes unstable childhood he still managed to be 16 • BWD Magazine • www.bwdmagazine.com
the only male to graduate from high school and maintain a positive outlook on life, individuals, and his music. Life made him wiser and music has made him stronger. Empowering, creative and a hard worker at an early age, Milla is a prime example of how patience and consistency can lead to success. Standing strong and not letting his past reflect his future is the reason his music is a testimony and why real Hip-hop is alive. His strengths are “Knowing he can do better and never falling victim because he is an individual.” With plenty of songs under his belt, Fred Milla is a musical champion.

monthly Inspiration A cheerful disposition is good for your health; gloom and doom leave you bone-tired. Proverbs 17:22
It’s actually ok to laugh; a lot of us take things too seriously and miss out on great experiences. I know that not everything in life is enjoyable but I think we all need to learn to have more fun in our lives. You’d be surprised that you could find a moment that brings you joy or you can laugh about, if you take time every day to think about it. God wants his children to have some fun. The Bible says a merry heart does good, like medicine. I think we all need a healthy dose of laughter every day, many times during the day. You can never have an overdose of joy. So I encourage you today to deliberately look for something to smile or laugh about; every day, and be sure to share a smile or a laugh with someone else and brighten their day.

ith a steady grind, confident lyrics, catchy hooks and a charismatic delivery, Neno Black and Malcolm Jamal (both 28yrs old) are on the road to make an immediate impact in the music industry.
Hailing from Chicago Heights, Illinois the BlacqGang is looking forward to the grind and hard work needed to be successful. With solid reviews from their first L.P entitled “Almost Famous”, it’s easy to say music plays a major part in their lives. M.J. “I can remember when I used to follow my big brother to the studio at the age of 5; so honestly, music was the only thing I knew and that’s why I take it so serious”.
N.B. “I love duos like Outkast, Mobb Deep, Clispe and E.P.” M.D. “Most respect to those dudes because they did pave the way but we will one day go down as the best duo of all time. Our potential is higher than gas back in 2008, so get used to the ‘name’ BlackSupaHeros.”

With buzzing hits like “Rich n’ Famous” and “It’s Easy”, Hanlitt’s duo future is looking pretty bright. N.B. “I’m more of the cocky one, because I know we got the talent and anything we want, we can get it. As long as we keep working hard and stay focused, we’ll be good”. Influenced by the greats like Biggie Smalls, Nas, and Jay-z, this young duo plans to carry on the tradition of hip hop on their back. Best friends since high school and the best two rappers in the area, both decided; instead of being two solo acts, that they should team up and hit the people with ‘double trouble’.

DEMARCO MILLER interview BY: ralan aka (S.M.I.L.E) Tehuti As Ralan Enterprises, LLC steps out of the box of Hip-Hop/ Rap music by venturing into architecture and photography, he introduces you to Demarco Miller. An up and coming Architectural Photographer. As Mr. Miller provides us with a brief outline of his life. “S.M.I.L.E. Some Make It Look Easy.” Where are you from? I’m from Cleveland, Ohio. What do you do? I am an Entrepreneur who is making a living in the business of photography as an Architectural Photographer, primarily. What do you like most about your profession? Being my own Boss. Having something to show for the work I am putting in, being creative. How long have you been doing this? I have been doing this professionally for about three years. I’ve always had a thing for cameras. Professionally, what is your goal? My goal is to continue what I am doing, staying humble and working hard. The professional growth is happening on a daily basis. I just want to bring positive energy to the situation and remain creative and open to new ideas.
I am learning patience and how to “go with the flow.” It’s a funny thing when you realize, how much is actually out of our control!!! How important is marketing and promotions? Do you think write-ups, blogs, magazines, online publications, etc. are important? Very important, it has its place. I think it’s necessary. How you approach it is different with Social Media in the mix. I think referrals and word of mouth are important too. It’s the great information highway!!! What role does the Artist have in Society? That’s an interesting one! An Artist’s role in society is a beautiful thing because it can change at any time. It really comes down to the individual Artist and whatever movement, in society, that they want to associate themselves with or want to be a part of.
