Now, after so many years of singing and leading worship, she is led to be a blessing by sharing her first album ‘Arise’ **with the world. It was released on March 15th. The title track, “Arise” will cause one to lift their hands in reverence. “Holy Father, we have come. By your grace we’re standing here. Like a fire you will burn in our hearts forever more.” A simple line in the song that says so much. Other songs on the album include “Great and Mighty”, “The Shanana Song” and “Down at Your Feet” which cause one’s left hand to meet their right hand and clap to the rhythm. There are other tracks such as “Holy Lord” that promote the ultimate worship experience. Overall the whole album is a must have. A new saint, seasoned saint or about to be a saint, can all appreciate the production as most importantly the experience through the message of Jesus Christ. The songs are also simple that will even have its listeners singing along.

10 BEST HALLOWEEN DATE IDEAS “Thinking of Halloween probably does not conjure up the most romantic of images but think again, my friends, because this spooky season is full of fun, creative date ideas that do not involve buying a movie
ticket or footing a big dinner bill. Here’s ten to get you started, but a little thinking could produce plenty more. After all, Halloween comes but once a year!”
1. Go costume shopping with that special someone. Even if you already have one, visit hole-in-the-wall shops or thrift stores to find accessories to make your costume extra-special. It’ll be entertaining and definitely good for a few laughs. 2. Have a “Pumpkin Day.” Visit a farm or nursery together where you can each buy the orange Halloween staple, then have fun printing out DIY pumpkin stencils, or make your own. You can invest in a cheap set of carving tools, then see whose pumpkin turns out scarier. 3. Go on a hay rack ride together. It’s a good excuse to cuddle up and enjoy the crisp fall air together, plus some good conversation. Be sure to bring along a thermos of hot chocolate or your favorite adult beverage. 4. Visit a corn maze. Especially in your area of the world, there should be plenty this time of year. Many hay ride places can give you information on where fun corn mazes are located. Be sure to dress warmly and bring along a fun attitude. If nothing else, it will be good for working on problem solving skills together. 5. Check out a haunted house in your area. Or, for even more frightful fun, look up haunted houses or locations in your area, and make a road trip in the dark to scare the begeebies out of yourselves. It will make for some fun stories to relive later on. Just make sure you don’t trespass.
8 • BWD Magazine • www.bwdmagazine.com
6. Host a Halloween party as a couple. Plan out all the details together, as long as you’re both people that don’t get stressed out too easily and will forget to have fun with it. If you’re feeling extra adventurous, make it something less run-of-the-mill than a costume party, like a murder mystery dinner party. 7. Weather permitting, build a bonfire (preferably in the middle of nowhere) and tell each other scary stories. Bust out the sleeping bags, warm socks, and your favorite ghost stories. The hot chocolate/adult beverage rule should apply again. 8. Have a scary movie night. Each of you pick out a scary movie you both haven’t seen before, and make some Halloween themed drinks. Don’t forget to turn off the lights!
9. Don’t forget about helping out others this Halloween season. Volunteering is a great date idea. Offer to take neighborhood kids trick-or-treating, or donate your old costumes so those that are less fortunate can join in the fun. Or, you could help with a community haunted house and scare others instead of being scared for a change.
10. Help each other decorate your yards (or yard, if you live together). Look for fun ideas on DIY tombstones or signs. Working on projects together is not only fun, but it helps to build your bond. Use your imagination and you’ll come up with plenty more. Halloween is made for thinking “out-of-the-box”, so why not apply that to your romantic life as well? BWD Magazine • www.bwdmagazine.com • 9

GREYE
ow often is it that you get to spend time with one of the most eclectic, rhythmic, groovy, refreshing and best bands in your area; leaving you with a feeling, like you’ve been best friends with them since the dawn of time? How often is it that the drummer for a band; that you personally knew, had produced the infamous GG Allin, or that in a band’s 16-month lifespan, they’ve written and recorded twenty-eight (28) songs (enough for two complete albums), produced three music videos, planned an August 1, 2014 release of their first album titled Providence, and rehearse an average of twenty (20) hours a week?
their performance at their school’s Battle of the Bands, Ray Grimard approached them and asked if they’d want to include a drummer.
When I, Lindsay Temple, sat down with the band GREYE; one cloudy Sunday evening, I couldn’t believe their charming dynamic, not only as phenomenal musicians or bandmates, but as individuals whose passion for what they do radiates from their very beings.
Sitting on the floor with them for those couple hours, I got a sense of why GREYE is receiving so much attention. The group brings a great deal of individuality. The song’s lyrics are the work of the lead singer Hannah Summer. Though only seventeen (17), Summer’s approach is as varied and carefully crafted as any songwriter twice her age. Dressed in ripped black jeans, high top Converse (no, really, they come up to her knees), and brown hair that had been dip dyed pink, it is clear that Hannah is a force behind the band that truly keeps them all together. “We don’t ever want to arrive,” Hannah said when I asked about the band’s goals. “I don’t want us to work just to be good enough, I want us to just be.”
GREYE, formerly known as Locals Only, is a progressive folk band from Daytona Beach, Florida. The group is comprised of four members: Hannah Summer (vocals/ guitar), Jett Wolfe (guitar/vocals), Josh Reid (bass/ vocals), and Ray Grimard (drums/percussion). Hannah and Jett met in their high school guitar class. Bass player, Josh Reid, was added, and some time later, after 10 • BWD Magazine • www.bwdmagazine.com
“They really didn’t want to play with a drummer at first, it took some convincing” laughs Ray, who is also a long time studio owner/producer and a teacher at the school. “I offered for them to come by my studio and jam, just to see what would happen.” Initially, Ray’s approach was to develop a sound then replace the drummer (himself) and he would just assume the role of producer and engineer. However, much to his surprise the band insisted that he stay on as both the producer and the drummer.
GREYE - FOLK MUSIC’S PROGRESSIVE OFFSPRING! The group doesn’t seem to ask for much, other than for the world to hear their music, and they absolutely deserve it. Musical influences from the likes of John Butler, Brian May, Greg Lake, Alex Lifeson, Steely Dan, Traffic, Motown and even YES give their music an incredibly unique and nearly indescribable sound.
GREYE has a phenomenal space in music, one that they’ve created all for themselves. If you get a chance do yourself a favor and catch GREYE live or by visiting any of the below contact information. You will find either experience very musically refreshing.
Beginning with a folk backdrop, their music is electrifying laden with intricate nostalgic melodies. An element of music, Ray says, that people are hungry for once again. They have rocked the crowds at the Ocean Deck in Daytona Beach, and the Daytona Beach Bandshell to name just a couple.

f you have been paying attention to the underground music scene, you have heard Rhyme Scheme. Since 2008, the ambitious hip-hop artist has been making a name for himself thanks to his sharp raps that echo real life.
Having grown up in Detroit’s inner-city, and served a tour in Iraq, Rhyme Scheme delivers evocative messages through his lyrical talents that are quickly gaining notoriety. A recent reviewer of his All Black album stated, “His Tupac influence came out here in the freestyle, and other places in the record. I truly feel he would obliterate many independent rappers in a freestyle battle.” The depth of his lyrics, mixed with a fused sound of old-school hip hop with Caribbean influences is creating quite a buzz. A move to LA to seize the spirit of the local scene also gave Rhyme Scheme the exposure he needed to the music industry; and it has paid off. His songs are being picked up by DJs, bringing his work to a broader audience including through the 4 Letters remix by CDXX, the remix of The World Today featuring Nyack by DJ Bobby Flirt, and DJ Blak Boy’s Hood Shit the Mixtape, released at the end of July. He has been chosen as Artist of Tha Month on Soundz Taight – Tha Indie Spot, been featured on the cover of The Underground Fix Magazine and is going to appear in Fall/Winter issue of Blockz Magazine, and XXL in October. WHAT IS ALWAYS FORGOTTEN Many times we are so mentally consumed with these poisons and the fish that we eat, we forget about bacteria. During my residency, I saw a patient with the flesh-eating bacteria who lost his leg and hand because of it, and I can still smell it to this day. He got it from eating raw oysters. Raw fish or shellfish are dangerous not only because they could be contaminated but there is also a concern about the food handlers, so don’t eat anything raw including Sushi which I call bait. My one daughter has been sick twice from it, and thanks to dear old dad, she is still alive and well.
4.
DON’T FALL VICTIM The bottom line, follow these guidelines and if you have any doubts, go on line, Fish2Fork.com and get some useful accurate information. Eat only wild Salmon, canned or Sockeye Salmon, large fish such as Swordfish, Tuna and Mackerel only once a month, and if potentially childbearing, not at all because it can injure the unborn child. Of course shellfish cooked, anchovies are great choices also so put them in your Caesars salad. The smaller fish are not dangerous like Tile Fish, Cod or Haddock, which is my favorite with the former being mostly farm raised now.

FUN HALLOWEEN ‘TO - DO’S WITH YOUR KIDS! Halloween; for many, this is their favorite holiday. For children, it is the next best thing to a birthday or Christmas! They get to dress up and get candy for it! The days of staying out late, changing costumes and returning to unsuspecting homes are long gone though. These days, Halloween is often relegated to a specific day, often not on October 31st, and for a couple of hours on that day.
simple to put together. You could make a dice cube out of a square box and white and black poster paints. Besides the usual Trick or Treating, there are ‘other’ things to do to celebrate the holiday with your children.
Some churches now have ‘Trunk or Treat’ on or near Halloween. Parishioners, that want to participate, bring candy and treats and open up their car trunks and hand out candy to the children that come by. This is one safe alternative to going door to door. Local shopping centers and malls also usually have a time that store owners set aside to ‘treat’ the children that stop by. The stores are chock full of all sorts of costumes, from the ghoulish to the princess you are sure to find something your child will love! What about a homemade costume? These are almost as much fun to make as they are to wear. You could opt for traditional clowns, witches, ghosts, Hobos, etc. Or, you could go for something different. Say, a box of popcorn! BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH
B
reast cancer is the most common type of cancer in women. One in eight women will have that diagnosis in their lifetime. That’s the bad news; but the good news is that it has the highest cure rate of all cancers with early detection. October is not only Breast Cancer Awareness Month, but another life-saving awareness day also takes place this month. The third Friday in October is National Mammography Day. This year’s event takes place on October 17, 2014. National Mammography Day United States President William Clinton proclaimed the first National Mammography Day back in 1993, an annual observance that encourages women across the country to schedule their annual mammogram. Mammograms, which are x-rays pictures of the breast, which are used to help doctors find early signs of breast cancer. Breast Cancer In 2013, according to a report by the American Cancer Society; while death rates from breast cancer in the U.S.A. have dropped 34 percent since 1990, it is estimated that over 230,000 new cases of “invasive breast cancer” will be diagnosed 18 • BWD Magazine • www.bwdmagazine.com
this year and nearly 40,000 American women will die from the disease. Men can also get breast cancer. It is estimated that 1,900 new cases of breast cancer in men will be diagnosed this year. Rates of breast cancer vary among different groups of people. Rates vary between women and men and among people of different ethnicities and ages. They vary around the world and across the U.S. Screening and early detection saves lives. In honor of National Mammography Day, women across the nation are encouraged to schedule a mammography appointment and just to make sure you don’t forget, be sure to sign up for a free breast cancer screening reminder by visiting the American Cancer Society’s Official Website.

Amorea Walker aka ‘MOE’ MAURICE Hip hop is all about stories. That’s why despite not having a major label recording contract, heads still gravitate towards Amorea Walker aka Moe Maurice. Moe was born on Feb 7, 1991; in Oakland, California. This is where singing in the local church had inspired his rapping/ producing career. Moe states, “While growing up, rappers Jay-Z and Hot Boyz had a great impact on my childhood.” He also mentioned that these rappers were still influencual to his writing skills, even in today’s society. His matchless songwriting skills shine throughout his lyrics; showing a rare range. Moe has further upcoming opportunities to reveal his burgeoning talent. Moe showcases his songwriting and producing talents by working with NKREDABLES Music Production. Writing has become like a second passion for him. Moe stated that he never thought his music would develop this way but always uses reality-based life situations; along with real life subjects, as the basis for every song he writes. Moe has taken his writing and producing abilities to a whole new level and is really passionate about making a new and upcoming record, as well as, wanting everyone else to feel it too! His aim has always been to make music that can also make a difference in someone elses life. His greatest joy has always been to know when a song he wrote or rapped has touched upon another’s life.
Like many of the other children; growing up was a struggle. However, Moe didn’t let that hold him back but rather looks at it as an continuance too his daily motivation. He didn’t like growing up and not having the nice things that the kids next door had. Moe also admits, “I didn’t have much. There was just me, my sisters and my mom. While growing up without a father, I didn’t have anything to do but go to school. I was a smart kid in school, always had good grades, but music did somewhat affect my grades.” At the age of 13, Moe moved to Antioch/Brentwood in California. After moving to Brentwood, California, he had to adjust. However, it was truly a blessing in disguise. If he would have never moved to Brentwood, Moe wouldn’t be where he is today. “I got taken out of the hood to be where the money is.” Moe admits. “I even collaborated with some of my classmates”. Now making his way up the ladder of stardom.. Moe can now show his full potential. The rest is soon to make history. Contact Information:
