Chairman’s Message Goodness we have hit the ground running, what a busy month September was. We had a lovely day at The British Club on 14th September where BWG raffled a teddy and raised 4120 bht. for Saint Andrews Welfare pot. A very successful coffee morning at Bar Su, a scrumptious lunch at Wine Depot Soi 22 and a wonderful evening of wine and cheese with a talk on how to judge a good cheese. Many thanks to those who organised these events and those lovely people who supported them. The BWG has realised that times are changing and with the exchange rate very much in our mind, we are arranging coffee and lunches at a more reasonable price, with the option of just popping in for a drink and a chat. THOUGHT FOR THE MONTH. A lie doesn’t become truth, wrong doesn’t become right and evil doesn’t become good just because it’s accepted by a majority. Broker T. Washington. Welcome to the October issue of Contact magazine. This month there is much to look forward to, not least the amazing October activity of whale watching in the Gulf of Thailand. This is something that I really wanted to do but unfortunately I’m flying back to the UK in the early hours of the following day. Its definitely one to put your name down for though because the comments from ladies who have done this previously indicate that it is a fantastic day out and such a memorable experience. Along with many other opportunities to meet up for coffee, lunch and evenings out, I wonder if any of you have contemplated joining either of the mahjong groups? I’ve included some information about these groups to try and tempt some new members. Happy reading! www.bwgbangkok.org

September coffee A great gaggle of ladies gathered at Bar Su on Thursday 12th September for the ‘welcome back’ and newcomers coffee. There was so much chat and noise that the chef had to shut the door to the kitchens. We were royally served by the wonderful staff at Bar Su with Khun Nutch taking great care of us. We all enjoyed coffee and delicious cakes, not helping our post holiday diets! Everyone agreed it was a great place to meet, very easy to get to and pleasant surroundings with comfy chairs. Thank you Gale and Laura for arranging .

September Lunch On Thursday 19th September 14 lovely ladies gathered at Wine Depot in Soi 22, where we had the most wonderful meal for the princely sum of 422 bht, although the size of the pizza defeated some. We were a noisy bunch, which may have had something to do with the welcome prosecco, but we did have a great deal of catching up to do. Thank you Sylvia for organising and thank you to the staff of the restaurant who were so friendly and patient with us trying to remember our orders! Cheers to Lisa for taking the pictures.
