12th Night Krewe of Centaur hosted the annual Mardi Gras Twelfth Night at Bossier EYE ON SB EYE ON SB BY DEBBIE HENRY BY DEBBIE HENRY Civic Center. This Mardi Gras casual event is the official launch of the Carnival season. All of the local and surrounding krewes gathered for an evening of fun and merriment to eat, drink and introduce their Royal Courts to each other. 1. Centaur Top Royals with their spouses: King Hal Rogers and wife Patty, Captain Ricky Bridges with wife Dana, and Queen Tracey James with husband Randy James 2. Sobek Bal The Krewe of Sobek put on a black-tie affair The Krewe of Sobek put on a black-tie affair full of music and merriment at their Grande Bal XVII “Down On Da Bayou,” held at the Shreveport Convention Center. Captain XVII Johann Cooke as “VooDoo Daddy” and CoCaptain XVII Johann Cooke as “VooDoo Daddy” and CoCaptain Rachal Virgin as “Mistress of VooDoo” rolled into the bayou along with the fog to begin their tableau. Sobek King XVII Doug Sanders and Queen XVII Janet Armand reigned over the night’s festivities.

The Duke and Duchess of Longevity Gary and Jane Hudson brought cameras to capture the wild animals in their natural habitat, while the Duchess of Prosperity Sherrie Vullo was there to study the arachnids. Queen XXIV Dianne Harmon was as beautiful and graceful as the butterflies she saw on her safari adventure.

Atlas Grand Ball XIV Krewe of Atlas Grand Bal XIV “Holidays” was held at the Shreveport Convention Center. The Tableau production featured “Holidays” as each Royal dressed as a festive day from the calendar. Atlas Captain XIV John Pumilio personified the Carnival Mardi Gras Season as a Jester. Beautiful and sweet Princess Bella Sims searched for Easter Eggs. Confetti cannons and fireworks shot into the air as Atlas King and Queen conducted their grand march down the runway. Centaur Royal Mixer Centaur hosted a Royalty Mixer the evening before Twelfth Night so that the local krewes could have a nice meal, a few drinks, and mingle before the Mardi Gras madness began. The past Centaur Royals worked the buffet line serving Italian Fare to the attending krewes. Headed up by Centaur Event Chair Tony Prestidge, this Royal Mixer also worked as a walk-through practice before the Twelfth Night activities. Guests were also welcome to peruse The Bead Store.

Cotillion Announcement

The President of the Cotillion Governing Board, Mr. Michael John Hoogland and his wife, Valerie Hoogland held a cocktail party in their home to announce Rex LXXIII. Mark Sealy was chosen to reign as the 73rd King over the Holiday in Dixie Cotillion at the Municipal Auditorium this spring. A receiving line consisted of the Cotillion Board President and Hosts, The Hooglands, Rex LXXIII Mark Sealy, Cotillion Chairman Eloise Graf, and the parents of the LXXIII Queen, Princess, and Princes. Cotillion 2022 has a fun and whimsical theme “Cotillion LXXIII, The Greatest Show.” This circus theme is near and dear to Cotillion Chairman Eloise Graf’s heart, since she was a promoter for Ringling Brothers Barnum & Bailey Circus. 1.
