Drawing & Painting PLANT LIFE DRAWING 1 with Virginia Reid This 8 week art course will focus on drawing natural forms from life in a variety of mediums, inspired by the botanical work of several famous artists. The morning session will focus on drawing and the afternoon session will involve experimenting with mixed media, including cut and paste collage, mono-printing and constructing compositions for painting. It is not necessary to know how to draw for this course - this is for a complete beginner or an experienced artist, who is inspired by the natural world of plants and flowers could benefit from supported studio time to focus on their practice. DREAMING IN COLOUR 2 with Virginia Reid

Continue your journey from ‘Dreaming in Colour 1’ as we immerse ourselves in a style between realism and abstraction. Draw inspiration from a range of expressionist painters who were more concerned with their emotional responses than an objective reality. Drawing on memory, imagination, dreams and collage we will step through a process to help you draw and paint expressively with your own signature. Suitable for beginners through to more experienced painters as tuition will be tailored to your individual level. ART OF JUXTAPOSITION 1 with Virginia Reid The early 20th century technique of including every day material into the field of painting has gone onto influence every field of art practice since. During this 8 week course we will look at the work of various artists known for their use of collage and gain inspiration to construct new images for ourselves. No prior experience is necessary, collage is easy and relies only on a willingness to play with possibilities. You will be supported to develop the ideas that come from this practice and build a small body of work. BREATHING THE LAND 2 with Virginia Reid Continue your experiential research from ‘Breathing the Land 1’ and focus on deepening your relationship to the landscape we inhabit. This 7 week art practice will incorporate a range of modalities including meditation, walking, observation, drawing and printing. Combine time out in the landscape with time in the Laneway Studio as we use materials from the landscape to respond to country, drawing with local ochres, dyeing paper with local botanicals, fuelling our visual responses with local research.
