Brahma Alternative Designs
Brahma is regarded as the Supreme Being, the God of gods; of whom BrahmÄ , Vishnu, and Siva are manifestations. It is true that, in some verses of the Vedas, attributes ascribed to him are also ascribed to other deities, and in some of the PurÄ nas various gods are said to be identical with the supreme Brahma.

Rama is the seventh avatar of Vishnu. Rama was born to Kaushalya and Dasharatha in Ayodhya, the ruler of the Kingdom of Kosala. He married Sita. Though born in a royal family, their life is described in the Hindu texts as one challenged by unexpected changes such as an exile into impoverished and difficult circumstances, ethical questions and moral dilemmas.

Matsya, also known as Malsya, is the avatar of the Hindu god Vishnu in the form of a fish. Often listed as the first avatar in the lists of the ten primary avatars of Vishnu, Matsya is described to have rescued the first man, Manu, from a great deluge. Matsya may be depicted as a giant fish, or anthropomorphically with a human torso connected to the rear half of a fish.

DEVATA
An Illustrated Book on Hindu Gods & Goddesses - BOOK COVER DEVATA (meaning “god in Hindi) is a book on Hindu gods and goddesses made as my thesis project in Binus International University, 2017. The main goal of this project was to illustrate Hindu deities in a modern and contemporary design while still maintaining and respecting its cultural background and references. The book design, elements, symbols and illustration style used in the project was researched beforehand to determine whether or not they would fit in with the concept of the overall project.

The color scheme is limited to shades of red, brown, yellow and a minor amount of dark green to give it a similar look to the colors that are often used in Hindu manuscripts. The use of textures are still present, significantly on the gold colors and background of the book cover. The colors are also muted to give it a more rustic look.

An Illustrated Book on Hindu Gods & Goddesses - MANDALAS The three mandalas and/or yantras used in each chapter dividers have specific meanings. The first chapter features a mandala with an Ohm symbol that are often used to represent the three Hindu gods. The second chapter is a mixed design of Vishnu’s yantra and his symbol in the center of the yantra, as the second chapter features exclusively his ten avatars. The third chapter features the Sri Yantra (also known as Shree Yantra), which symbolizes entirety of the cosmos.

CRADLE OF LYRA The Three Gods, Part 1 - The Creation

Cradle of Lyra is a story under development as a personal project I started in early 2017. It began from creating simple singular characters to then creating scenarios which slowly developed into conceptual designs such as the ones showcased in this book. The God of Creation is one of the three gods partaking a major role in creating the universe which sets the main character’s story.

Description
The Creation
The main concept of the design is to create a powerful cosmic
entity
with
a
timeless design whose main role is to create universe(s) where other creatures and entities live in. The final design shown on the left is a god with similar features of a woman with a womb opening on their stomach; the place where their power is drawn from and taken into creating universes. The scrolls on their body flowing downwards are prophecies that have happened, are happening and are yet to happen in the future.

As I progressed in designing minor characters and the story of Cradle of Lyra, I began to continue drafting for the second god; God of Formation. This god takes the role of forming what has been created into the universe by the previous god and preserves their powers in the form of the “The First People” who walked the grounds where the story is set.

Description
The Formation
The God of Formation has a more androgynous look than the God of Creation, and has the universe located in the center of their body. They channel energies into lotus pods, which will then bloom and birth “The First People set in the universe of Cradle of Lyra.

CONCEPT ART Creature and Humanoid Concept Designs
Project
Concept Art & Design
Software
Adobe Photoshop
Further into my career of art and design, I found that I have interest and a liking towards concept design and thinking rather than just illustrating for the sake of visual imagery and the such. I then experimented and explored on creature designs such as the one on the right; a humanoid spider and plant based creature. The idea behind this design was to create a fuse between a monstrous and possibly carnivorous arachnid with a benevolent floral creature, which then resulted as a creature in a failed experiment. After delving deeper into trying to design more animalistic creatures, I tried designing one that is based on a reptile (next page). The main idea is to design a prehistoric reptilian creature capable of living on land and sea at the same time. The mechanics of how the legs and the fins work are explained in the thumbnails of the illustration.

Sin bearers were my newer experimentations of designs I made recently. Inspired by various video games such as Dark Souls and Bloodborne, and Dante Alighieri’s literature “Divine Comedy” (Inferno), I came up with two of these designs. The left being the damned punished for theft; their hands severed and chained to their arms, their feet chopped Sin Bearer - Thieves

and forced to walk on stumps while they forever drag a treasure chest with them. Their heads are severed from their heads and a hole on their stomach so that they will never fill their hunger ever again. The second (right) are those damned for being falsifiers. The skin on their faces are pulled back from their faces as a symbolization to “reveal who they truly areâ€?. They are forever chained to bring the masks they used to wear as their façades.
