Philosophy Behind the Design

Ik a R o vi k a Sari
The main idea of the logo is to represent the personality and
essence of Ika Rovika Sari. Her love in flowers and feminine things, alongside her favorite bluish teal color and yellowish brown, are implied in the design of this logo. Ika Rovika Sari is very feminine and elegant in her looks, which is why the design of this logo is intended to represent those traits. The cursive and fluid flow of the logo is to give an impression of a very gentle and calm personality. Harmony and love for nature are also significant in the design and application of this logo which will be discussed further ahead.

Ika Rovika Sari is very much inspired by natural shapes
instead of geommetrical objects. The fluidity, calmness and the soft feel from her designs are what inspired the making of her logo.
Furthermore, several colors are used for the color palette
of this logo. Flowers such as daisies were also previously implied to the design and process of this logo. However, these floral elements were later used in applications instead of the original logo itself.

The two main colors used for the logo are light
blue and a darker shade of blue. The darker shade is used to distinguish the letter “I” which stands for Ika, to the conjoined letters “R” and “S” which stands for Rovika Sari.
These colors were chosen for the main colors of
the logo to signify her love for the color blue. The original

idea of the design was to use both yellow and blue in the logo. However, to avoid tackiness and colors that are too vibrant in the application of the logo, blue was picked as the main color.

Since the main logo uses shades of blue, seasonal
colors are also available for different ocassions and/or weather changes. For instance, this shade of yellow can be used during autumn or summer vacations, and so on.

It is suggested to remain using the main logo
in applying for various packaging, designs and other purposes. The seasonal logo are mainly used for festive ocassions rather than professional or general usage.

The logo only uses one type of font which is Brannboll. This
font represent Ika’s elegant and feminine traits in herself as well as her calmness. Several fonts were previously chosen for the design of the logo, but so far this logo was the most suited one to represent her personality and identity.
Brannboll typeface has a very distinct shape to their capital
letters, and they really stand out compared to many cursive fonts. Therefore, only one font was chosen to be the main typeface of the logo to avoid having too many curves and differences in the logo.

Seasonal logos may vary in color, but may not vary in
its shape. Moreover, the letter “I” in the logo should always be darker than the “R” and “S” to avoid confusion in distinguishing the letters of the logo. A range of colors are allowed, but it is suggested to remain using soft and feminine colors.
The color red, maroon, or other strong colors are to
be avoided if it is possible in order to preserve the meaning behind the logo; feminity and gracefulness.

When applying the logo, there should at least be 0.2 h
of the horizontal width of the logo on each corner. For example, if the size of the logo is 10 centimeter in width and 9 centimeter

in height, there should at least be 2 cm2 space on each side of the logo to provide some distance between the logo and the background or other applied objects in the design.

A minimum size of 1.5 cm x 1.5 cm is suggested when
applying the logo in certain circumstances, where the designated

object is small enough that it requires a fairly small logo as well. However, if needed, 1 cm x 0.9 cm size is allowed although not suggested as it will be too small and difficult to identify. The details of the logo may also be difficult to examine.
There are no definite maximum size for the logo as it

can be applied for various ocassions and designs. However, it is suggested the largest size of the logo to be 15 cm x 13.5 cm.

When applying the logo on top of color, it is important to underly it with a white circle, then
another outlining circle surrounding the logo before putting the logo on top of the same color or a similar shade of color as the logo. Under several circumstances, it is allowed to reverse the colors of the logo as demonstrated in page ten (10).
22
It is also important to note that when applying the logo on top of pattern design, the logo also must
follow the previous rule; the application of two white circles underlying the logo and surrounding the logo is a must before placing the logo on another set of design or pattern.
23
Rules What is not allowed?
24
Don’ts
Using these patterns to underly the logo
is not allowed as it may be too distracting and colorful. Moreover, patterns with too much colors and elements might lose the meaning behind the applied logo.
In this case, Ika Rovika Sari’s logo represents
feminity, grace and her dreamy personality. These kinds of patterns are not suited for the concept of the book.
It is suggested to use colors of the same or
similar tone to that of the logo (light blue and teal blue) and use elements that are suitable to represent feminity and gentleness instead of a strong, vibrant set of colors for the pattern.
