Treat jars

No tricks, just treats with our boo-tiful Halloween Jars

Use vinyl to craft our terrifying trio of spook-tacular jars

It’s so easy to revamp old glass jars with our fun vinyl designs. These spooky jars can be made using a ScanNCut or by simply cutting out the shapes. They’d be great to fill with treats and give as gifts at Halloween or you could use them as tealight holders. Be sure to choose sweets that contrast with the vinyl colour to bring out the detail of the cut outs.

Pumpkin

Kit List

◆ Glass jar, clean and dry ◆ Brother ScanNCut ◆ Orange vinyl ◆ Create & Craft orange and white twine ◆ Glue

1On your ScanNCut add the following shapes: 2 x triangles (33mm wide), 1 x triangle (20mm wide), 1 x jagged border (97mm wide x 26mm high). 2Cut each shape onto the orange vinyl. You could use glitter vinyl if you prefer. 3Place your vinyl elements onto the jar, ensuring that there are no bumps. You can use a credit card to smooth it out. 4Glue the twine near the base of the jar. Wrap around a few times and fix the end again with glue. Repeat at the top of the jar. Witches & stars

Kit List

◆ Glass jar, clean and dry ◆ Brother ScanNCut ◆ Purple vinyl ◆ Create & Craft purple and white twine ◆ Glue

1In Brother Canvas Workspace, add a rectangular shape the size of the area that you want to cover. You should leave a gap around the top and bottom of the jar and ensure that there is a small overlap around the width of the jar. 2Import the following SVG file from LoveSVG.com – Basic Witch. Remove all of the elements apart from the witch image. Resize and place her into the centre of your rectangular shape with a small gap at the top and the bottom. Add star shapes around the witch, dotting them around to fill the space in the rest of the rectangle. Cut onto purple vinyl and weed. 3Gently roll your vinyl panel onto the jar, making sure that there are no bumps or bubbles. You can use a credit card to smooth it out. 4Glue the twine near the base of the jar. Wrap around a few times and fix the end again with glue. Repeat at the top of the jar. Ghost

Helping Hand

◆ If you want to add to your pumpkin jar, you could spray the lid green and add some stalks ◆ It can be tricky to get the vinyl to line up perfectly, so take your time with it and be patient! ◆ Make sure when you initially stick the vinyl down that it is straight so that when you roll it out it stays in line ◆ Smooth out any vinyl bumps or bubbles with a credit card
