The Eifel Tower Audio for Poem
I stand in front of the Eifel tower, Catching my breath after the run from the metro station. My eyes gaze upwards, Following along the black metal that leads up to the top. An elevator sounds from a mere 10 feet away, Coaxing me into its hefty doors. I push away my desire for taking the elevator And force myself into the line paying for the stairs. As I get closer to the tower, I notice the intricate architecture, Thick, black metal, My eyes stare; aghast. Along with every other tourist, My neck is craned upward. I could stand here... Forever.
Muir Woods Audio for Poem
Songs from birds flood my ears, My nose clogged from the scent of pine. Tree trunks, branches, sticks, leaves, All flying at my face. A small path leads our way, Winding us through the outdoor kingdom. Few voices can be heard, But not a single soul is in sight. The tickle from a gust of wind lingers; A rush of cool air flows through me. Surrounded by trees, These are the Muir Woods.
The Leaning Tower of Pisa Audio for Poem
Right, Left, Right, Left. Step after step. I trudge behind my sister, Dreading every stair in front of me. As we get higher and higher, The walls become tighter. The stairs get thinner, And personal space becomes scarce. At this point, traffic flows one way; Up. I can almost smell the fresh air, It’s getting closer and closer. I am being pushed, Forced to make it to the top. We break like a lion from its cage, Breathing in the fresh air. I barely notice how high up we are, More or less the thin wire keeping us from falling.
I make my way around the center of the tower, Pressing against the inner wall. I place my feet carefully, Trying not to trip. My eyes sweep the ground, Thousands of feet below me. I am at the top. Finally.
