Thoughts for you BY Helen C.
In the Mirror By Helen C. In the mirror my memories pass, Looking just at this arrogant piece of glass. This mirror that is o so old, Was there before this rhyme was told. At one edge is a deep crack you see, And remembering what that day was for me. That day was when the mirror fell, The day I remember way too well. There was bickering, yelling and fighting too, Getting louder as the scary noise grew. And now to this day, I will never forget, The smell of anger, and a new cigarette. There's another scratch on the whole other side, One that reminds me of my grandpa who left and died. My parents told me it was cancer for him, Something that had to do, with his fragile old limb. I go to his grave all the way in China, When I'm visiting family away from North Carolina. I sit and believe that he hears me talk, And I let out my feelings to his name on the rock. He taught me how to use a camera, I will never forget my dear old grandpa. I dedicate this poem to him up there, Don’t worry grandpa, I really still care.

Forward By Helen C.
My hands shake nervously. I walk forward, Pushing myself towards the line. Relax, 3 more. Shouting, cheering, laughing. I take my cap and put it on, I look, 2 more. I move forward again. Questions swirl through my mind. Doubts, negative words, insults, I ignore them. One more. I prepare. Cap on, Goggles on, My turn. I step up. A stiff flower on the block. It beeps I go, Diving into the water like a graceful swanđ&#x;?Š

Ode to My Sister By Helen C. Dear little one, This poem is for you. Thank you for being there, No matter how annoying you are. I see you at morning, I see you at night. You bring me joy, No matter how far away you are. I dream about you, All day long. I have fun with you, No matter how tired I am. I love you forever, No matter how old. I hope you remember me, I'll always remember you.
