The Beauty in Nature

By: Sarah Hallman

Stormy Night Pitter-patter, pitter-patter I lay awake in my bed Staring intently at the ceiling Lightning strikes Boom! A shiver runs down my spine "There it is again" I whisper Swinging my feet to the ground, I slowly get out of bed I tip-toe to the window and peak through the shutters Crackle! The forest of trees glow with light A cluster of birds shoot up, Scattering into the ominous sky The wind and the rain finally settle down I can now hear my shaky breaths, Caused by not fear, but thrill I close my eyes hoping the storm would persist Gr-r-r-umble! The thunder was so tremendous That it shook my entire room I trudged back to my bed, satisfied, Collapsed, and quickly drifted off to sleep

Nature’s Feelings Time and time again Seasons come around Autumn leaves Spring sheaves Summer breeze Winter freeze Never ceasing Invariably changing Time and time again We get excited every year Many may even cheer Curious to discover What the world has in store for us Cozy, fresh, warm, and harsh The seasons are nature's feelings Autumn is exquisite Spring is delightful Summer is wild Winter is magnificent The one thing we can truly rely on In life Seasons, Full of excitement Eager to shock the world Every year you get one chance To shine

To bloom To crystalize To transform Use it wisely

Darkness Darkness, The absence of light Where the evil things come out of hiding To be themselves During the day, They're nowhere in sight But during the night, They emerge to fight Scared of the light They feel a fright These creatures are not bright They do not fly kites However, I assure you they do indeed excite Lurking around in the darkness despite The constant fear of becoming discovered outright Darkness hides these creatures all night

Darkness creeps up on you without warning It is a shy, lonely butterfly in seek of a friend Darkness is as peaceful as calm waters Not a ripple to be seen Deeper than what meets the eye

Autumn Atmosphere The crystal clear water sat motionless A cool breeze rippled the lake The crisp, autumn smell sizzled in my nostrils Crunchy, burnt leaves surrounded me The sky was completely bare, No clouds, just a soft, blue sheet Faint birds chirped in the distance, calling out to one another The sun, hovering above the lake, peeks through the evergreen trees
