A Child’s Memories

Sejin P.

I Never Liked Him Anyways It was that day When it snowed like a blizzard. Trudging through the layers of snow, The little boy walked I told my neighbor, "Let's help him fight through the storm" But he said, "No, I never liked him anyways" I took him by the arm, And we too slowly Struggled toward the boy He fell and the ice slit through his pants We caught up to him and I told my neighbor, "Let's help him up." But he said, "No, I never liked him anyways." I helped the boy up as the snow became red He walked on fighting through the snow. He finally stopped at a big stone. He wiped the snow off the rock and we saw tears run down his face. Engraved on the stone was a name and a date. He cried silently with tears freezing on his cheek. I muttered to my neighbor, "Let's comfort him" But he said, "No, I never liked him anyways" And he turned his back and trudged through the layers of snow back home.

I Really Want to‌ I really want to play the game when we ran around the field, Running around in a group like birds migrating, Trying to catch up to next person in front I really want to play those harry potter games Where we shot spells at each other through our own finger I really want to play those four square games, Where if you're out, there's a line as long as a bus, eager to get back in. I really want to talk to the kids on the bus, Talking about what we did in life I really want to be at lunch When we all sat at the same table, like a family of rabbits And everyone gossiped about their day and the people around them I really want to be back with my buddies, Talking about the classes they had I really want to play those games When we weren't afraid to play anything When middle school hadn't split us up like a match-maker, Splitting people into pairs When the fear of not being cool had not caught up to us yet Like rabbits having the fear of wolves

The Invisible Man

"It's he!" the circus man shouted into my ear More than loud enough to make someone hear "It's he!" the circus man shouted to the crowd Holding a microphone to make himself loud "The invisible man!" the circus man screamed as the crowd roared As artificial rain poured An umbrella floated in midair As if to make it so that someone was there "There he is!" The circus man yelled A sign came down saying "the invisible man" but it was misspelled But no one cared though Because the invisible man was now a foe He threw his umbrella to the audience And the tent was filled with silence Sandy footprints ran to the children Who were at the front behind a fence so thin A rattle filled the silence as a child cried with a red snow cone stain Popcorn and soda were ripped from the children's hands as soda came down like rain Then more footprints flew out the tent as the animal trainer ran after him With every step filled with a string of curses as creative as a vim.
