Welcome Brahman enthusiasts! This Resource Book and Directory are designed to help you locate members of the American Brahman Breeders Association, to learn more about the fabulous American Brahman, and to familiarize you with the many programs available to you as a valued member of the Association. Please keep it as a “handy” reference guide. This guide is also available on the ABBA Website at Brahman.org. The Brahman breed and its Association are alive and well, active and enthusiastic, moving onward and upward, as we make continuing contributions to “red meat production” in the United States and around the globe. The role of the ABBA, in a nutshell, is to record the ancestry of our cattle and to promote their use. Our contributions to the U.S. beef cattle industry come through their unexcelled crossbreeding abilities, particularly with the Bos Taurus breeds and crosses. The practical, adaptable, long lived, trouble free Brahman crossbreds contribute mightily to the commercial cattle world. ABBA members/breeders have kept pace with the demands of the beef industry and have made great strides “meating” the needs of the industry from pasture to the plate. Feeding trials and carcass work of the past fifteen years has allowed the Brahman breed to focus on and vastly improve carcass quality in the areas of muscling, intramuscular fat, and tenderness. American Brahman Breeders Association Leadership
The ABBA Board of Directors consists of forty four elected directors and past presidents. Forty of these directors are elected from eleven areas in the United States and four are elected from the ABBA international membership. The ABBA Board of Directors elects a President, Vice President and Secretary/Treasurer each year as well as six members and the Immediate Past President to the Executive Committee. The ABBA President appoints seven committee chairmen and multiple committee members to develop and implement programs for the association. It is encouraged that you contact these leaders if you have any questions, need information or would like to provide input for the betterment of the association.
