Thomas Moore Feed launches new premium horse feed line

Moore Natural

Featuring Moore Safe Forage Technology™ & KER Micro-Max™ Micronutrients Thomas Moore Feed is proud to introduce Moore Natural™, a new line of premium horse feed featuring Moore Safe Forage Technology™. For more than 150 Years, the Moore Family has been farming hay and grain in the naturally nutrient-rich Brazos River Bottom, and now they are delivering a new and unique forage-based nutrition technology to the Texas performance and pleasure horse markets. They have developed a carefully grown, tightly managed, high quality forage technology to ensure that the Moore Natural feeds offer premium fiber for optimal digestive health; eschewing, less consistent alternatives like roughage co-products. Moore Safe Forage Technology™ is designed to deliver high quality soluble fiber, which is the needed substrate for proper hindgut function, resulting in greater conversion of the overall daily diet into natural, safe and efficient energy for horses of all classes. “I’m excited about the new Safe Forage Technology™ and being able to add Coastal and Alfalfa ingredients to our quality feeds,” Thomas Moore Feed plant manager Chris Maresh said. Throughout evolutionary history, it has been vital for horses to continuously consume and utilize forage as the mainstay of their daily diet, and now, Thomas Moore Feed is bringing nature back to the horse, in the form of Moore Safe Forage Technology™.

“Thomas Moore Feed is happy to partner with Kentucky Equine Research [KER] in the creation of our latest feed line, Moore Natural™,” Thomas Moore Feed owner Matt Moore said. “This partnership means lots of added bonuses for our customers.” Moore Natural™ contains KER Micro-Max™ micronutrients, which are designed to deliver the optimal amount and proper balance of critical vitamins and minerals to each class of horse for breeding, growth, performance and overall health. Also, horse owners will have access to KER’s webbased, ration evaluation software MicroSteed™. The MicroSteed™ Ration Wizard takes the guesswork out of choosing the appropriate feed and intake rate for your horse. Within moments, a horse owner can quickly describe their horse and its management, and the wizard then provides appropriate feed choices from the chosen producer, creating an optimized ration. Specifically designed graphs and tables allow for an instant visual snapshot of how each ration component contributes to the diet and to the horse’s requirement for each nutrient. The application allows horsemen to feed smarter based on the latest scientific research. For more information on the new Moore Natural™ feed line, visit MooreFeed.com or call 936-825-2239 to talk to a Thomas Moore Feed Representative.

Thomas & Moore Feed

Our Partnership with KER has benefits for You! Kentucky Equine Research is the world’s leading equine nutrition and exercise physiology research organization, consulting with horse owners and the feed industry on an international level for over 25 years.

KER’s motto, “Research separates the innovator from the imitator™,” reflects KER’s goal to bridge the gap between academia and the horse industry by applying cutting-edge nutritional technology to produce healthier, more athletic horses in all disciplines. KER serves as the Official Nutritionist of the United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) and served as chief consultant for the last five Olympic Games and 2010 World Equestrian and Asian

Games. They also spearhead clean sport initiatives. KER’s prolific research has been published in veterinary journals, magazine articles, and its own award-winning newsletter, The Weekly Feed, powered by Equinews. Their nutritionists are routinely invited to speak at international nutrition and veterinary conferences around the world, sharing insightful approaches to nutrition and feeding management that form the basis for equine feeding standards worldwide. KER partners with feed producers to deliver world-class nutrition and world-class results to horses worldwide.

MicroSteed™ Ration Wizard Through the Thomas Moore Feed partnership with KER we offer tailormade ration recommendations for horses using KER’s innovative ration evaluation program, MicroSteed, and the online MicroSteed™ Ration Wizard application. These nutrition management tools have been specially customized to provide advanced nutrition support using Thomas Moore feeds. For the Expert: MicroSteed™ ration evaluation software offers the ability to perform innovative individual diet consultation. This allows Thomas Moore feed specialists and KER staff to provide specific, customized recommendations to meet horses’ individual needs. MicroSteed™ illustrates the nutritional shortfalls, excesses, or imbalances in a horse’s diet, making it easier for the client to interpret.

For the Novice: The MicroSteed™ Ration Wizard is a web-based tool for obtaining recommended rations tailored to an individual horse using Thomas Moore feeds. The application allows horsemen and feed specialists to describe a horse and the available forage, presents them with a choice of appropriate feeds, and delivers a recommended ration using the feed selected. Easy-to-read graphs allow for an instant visual snapshot of how each ration component contributes to the diet and how the diet as a whole contributes to the horse’s requirement for each nutrient. Users can also have a copy of their ration e-mailed to them or request help with their rations.

The high-speed treadmill is the centerpiece of the exercise physiology trials.

KER Micro-Max™ Micronutrients KER Micro-Max™ micronutrients are designed to deliver the optimal amount and proper balance of critical vitamins and minerals to each class of horse for breeding, growth, performance, and overall health. When used as directed, Thomas Moore equine feeds containing Micro-Max™ micronutrient blends will deliver the nutrients horses need to complement the forage portion of the diet.

The KER research farm stretches across nearly 140 acres of land.

Testimonials

Hear what industry professionals have to say about...

Moore Natural™ with Safe Forage Technology™

This feed is what I consider to be a “Miracle Feed”! I’m always up to see if products are actually what they say they are and if they really do all that they say they are supposed to do. I’m kind of skeptical about a lot of things people say that are supposed to really make a difference… Well, my horses are living proof that it does work! My old mare “Miss Kitty” that I went to the NFR on way back in 2003 and 2005 was in pretty bad shape, to the point where I didn’t want people to see her. She looked way older than 25 and I had been trying all kinds of feed etc. – nothing seemed to really work. Then here comes Thomas Moore Feed asking to help her. Well they not only did they help her, they made her fill out, shine and “feel great” again! She looks awesome and all I did was feed the feed with some coastal hay! My 6 year old son and my wife started roping on her again, and wow did she work great! This feed also helped my other roping horses, even one that is a very hard keeper who if I fed too “Hot” of feed to him, he would not work to his potential in the arena. Again, I just fed what I was told to feed and wow did he fill out! You know, that’s the last thing you want with a calf horse is for it to be on the muscle when you are trusting him to hold the rope for you while you are tying a calf. My other rodeo horses and young horses/colts benefited from this feed as well. It was just the right ingredients to keep them looking awesome and feeling good all the while allowing them to “shine” in the arena, both in their looks and performance! I will continue to use this brand of feed for all of my horses from young to old – every single one of them! I just can’t tell you how amazing it is. I’m excited I was involved with the testing and measuring/weighing of the horses; however, in all reality they didn’t need to be weighed or measured, because you could literally see the difference! I am a skeptical guy, and they made a believer out of me! This feed is what I call a “Miracle Feed” it saved my old NFR horse, and really made my middle-aged and younger colts fill out and shine both in the arena and out! Trust me, I totally tested out this feed – riding everything I had day after day to make sure it was what they claimed it to be! Well they are true to their word, it is the best I’ve found out there! Thank You for allowing me to be a part of this testing. I will always feed Thomas Moore Feed. Oh, and by the way – they didn’t pay me a dime to write or say any of this! I really do think this feed is Amazing!
