Weebly: Embed Google Drive Document

Download Page Having a download page on your Weebly site is a very useful resource for both teachers, students and parents. A download page is useful to maintain commonly used documents and information. These downloadable documents can include classroom supply list, class schedule, calendar of events, or homework assignments. When providing a download page for documents its common practice to make these documents available in the PDF format. The PDF (Portable Document Format) is a universal document which can be opened on virtually any computer or device, like tablets and smart phones. If you would like to learn how to create PDF versions in Microsoft Office, iWorks, Google Drive or One Drive please look for one of my eBook lessons.

Go to your Weebly site and click on Pages in the menu.

Drag a file onto this window or click the upload a file from your computer button.

The file will be uploaded. The file name will be used for the file descriptor. You can leave this as is or change the file descriptor. Let’s learn how to change the file descriptor. Click on the download file link.

When the file module displays, use the File Name field to change the file name.

Change the document file name and click once outside the File module to save the changes.

The name is now a little friendlier for your visitors to read. Notice that Weebly recognizes the PDF file format and places the appropriate icon for the file.

To add another file you will need to drag another file element.

7

Weebly: Embed Google Drive

Repeat the process for all the documents you need. Weebly automatically places the files vertically down the page. You can control this format with columns.

The next time you drag a file element, move the file element to the left of a previous file element until you see a blue bar. Release to create a column.

8

In this way you can have two or three columns for your document downloads.

To organize your files or columns, click and drag on the file element handle.

9

Drag and drop the elements as needed. Use the blue line indicator as a guide to help you place the elements where needed.

Upload and organize your documents as needed.
