Concept The Vox is a cabin that opens up the public space for new means of creative expression. With its modular and adaptive design the vox is well suited for a variety of geographic applications. The cabin can pop up anywhere and anytime, serving as a catalyst for the engagement of public dialogues as well as civic participation in order to build the city's collective memory, serve as a graffiti/art booth, or even a place for the exchange of information, like a notice board. When used, the cabin becomes a layered artefact, that attempts to be the witness of the unknown side of history, that of the general public. The Vox, can also be thought of as a mirror that attempts to show us that part of society that we were barely able to see. The name Vox, comes from the latin word voice and the verb to speak. Similarly, it encapsulates the intention of the booth: to collect the voices of the city and make them visible. Also the name plays with its similarity to the word Box, which relates to the shape of the cabin. The design is simple, consisting of a rectangular wood construction with one side left open to enter. The entrance is equipped with a ramp, to assure that it can be accessed by everybody. Inside the cabin, the walls serve as the canvas, where a white A2 paper is glued to become the surface to paint on.
