hy would someone with the Certified Manager of Community Associations (CMCA) credential, continue to work towards the Association Management Specialist (AMS) credential? Having the AMS sets a manager apart. To earn the AMS one needs to have already earned the CMCA and then further show their dedication to the industry with two years of verified management work. It also shows the dedication to themselves by way of the two, 200 level CAI classes which are required for the AMS. What is more, having to redesignate every three years with additional CAI classwork requires more zeal and diligence. The AMS credential is certainly attainable, so keep moving forward and work towards it with consistency and enthusiasm! Eric Zarr, CMCA, AMS is the General Manager of the K. Hovnanian’s Four Seasons Beaumont Community Association for FirstService Residential, AAMC and serves as the Secretary on the CAI-GRIE Board of Directors. ISSUE ONE 2021 • CONNECT MAGAZINE
