ACCEPTING NEW PATIENTS FOR A LIMITED TIME

Our practice offers a welcoming non-judgemental, friendly environment where we can focus on improving your health and that of your family. We see you as a whole person and aim to optimise your health rather than just treat your illness or injury.

Conveniently located just south of the airport turn-off and directly behind Mother of Good Counsel School, we are well positioned for easy access from all areas of Cairns.

We are delighted to welcome Dr Seth Parker and Dr William Ho to our team. These lovely, experienced GPs join Dr Clarissa Tjoakarfa in accepting new patients.

At Thrive Medical, we promote a holistic approach to health care. We are passionate about preventative health, meaning that we may recommend certain health checks.

We are also likely to discuss health issues that may occur commonly in your age group, and the ways that we may prevent, test or treat these conditions.

Although I was born overseas and moved to Australia when I was 7 years old, I consider myself a Queenslander. I grew up in Toowoomba and went to school and university there.

In 2019, with my wife and two young children, I moved up to Bamaga where we fell in love with the tropics and, at the start of 2022, we decided to move to Cairns. We are loving life here and have made it our new home.

I am always happy to see anyone who walks in my door, but I have a special interest in paediatric (children’s) medicine, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander healthcare, sports medicine and men’s health. Outside of work I love hanging out with my kids, cooking, reading books, travelling (locally and overseas) and playing soccer.

My attraction to Far North Queensland first formed when I moved north to complete my internship at Cairns (Base) Hospital after graduating from the University of Queensland. I love my work as a GP. I particularly appreciate that as GPs, we are able to provide care and walk alongside patients in all stages of their lives. Being invited into the lives of my patients has always felt like an immense privilege and one which I place significant value upon.

I hold a special interest in men’s health, teen & adolescent health, sports medicine and Veterans health and the improvement of the health and wellbeing of First Nations peoples. In my spare time, you will find me trying to impress/embarrass my 2 kids while simultaneously avoiding being mocked by Sarah (my wife). I am also a keen mountain biker and cyclist enjoy home cooking and generally live for a good laugh.
