JOHN DEERE ADDS SMARTGRADE™ CAPABILITIES TO NORTH AMERICA’S LARGEST POWER-ANGLE-TILT DOZER North America’s largest Power-Angle-Tilt (PAT) crawler dozer now boasts the benefits of John Deere SmartGrade™. SmartGrade technology improves the quality of work and job site accuracy through the complete integration of the Topcon 3D-MC2 Grade-Control System. A key feature of the integrated machine control is Auto SmartGrade. This allows the operator to easily adjust the system when moving the machine from one soil type to another, unlike an after-market system, which often requires the GPS manager to make a trip to the machine to recalibrate the system. Particularly helpful to new operators, Auto SmartGrade automatically lifts the blade over heavy loads before track slippage occurs, then returns the blade to
grade. SmartGrade also limits the number of passes required, reducing the pace of wear on the undercarriage. The John Deere SmartGrade dozer is nearly 7 percent more accurate across the entire speed range of the dozer when compared to conventional masted systems.
The 8.6-cubic yard (6.6 m³) sixway PAT blade gives the operators the flexibility to place material where they want it on every pass using the blade angle feature. The PAT enhances job site productivity and versatility by executing several tasks that might otherwise require multiple machines. Cc

SET A NEW STANDARD WITH F-SERIES PAVERS INCLUDING THE NEWEST EDITION OF AP1000F AND AP1055F ASPHALT PAVERS Performance improvements and technology with a customerfriendly interface are key benefits of the F-Series Pavers from Cat® Paving Products. Fuel Efficiency Several features help improve fuel economy while maintaining high performance levels. Engine performance is aided by the 167 kw (225 hp) Cat C7.1 ACERT™ engine, which meets European Stage IV and U.S. EPA Tier 4 Final emissions regulations without sacrificing power. Eco-mode is standard on F-Series pavers and when used with automatic engine speed control, it efficiently manages engine RPMs to optimize fuel economy. Technology Touchscreen displays provide increased flexibility for operating and adjusting the machine. The
new single-switch auto-fill feeder system simplifies setup and helps provide consistency for operators. Exclusive propel and feeder system settings transfer between stations with the touch of a single switch. Paver operators can also make various screed adjustments without leaving their seats.
The Mobil-Trac System (MTS) features oscillating bogies and a rubber belt instead of the standard steel track. MTS enables travel speeds that match the pace of wheeled pavers. The system essentially combines the traction of track pavers with the speed and mobility of wheeled pavers. Cc

VOLVO’S REAL TIME COMPACT ASSIST INTELIGENT COMPACTION SYSTEM FOR SOIL AND COMPACTORS Volvo CE Compact Assist for Soil compactors offers real-time guidance to the operator by displaying number of passes and Compaction Meter Value (CMV), showing operators the exact number of passes across the entire work area, as well as whether those areas have reached sufficient compaction. This real-time guidance ensures operators of any skill level will easily spot gaps in coverage and won’t spend time on unnecessary passes once the soil is sufficiently compacted. At 10 inches, the Volvo Co-Pilot interface is the largest Intelligent Compaction (IC) interface in the compaction industry and is incredibly intuitive. The interface displays each compactor pass and drum overlap with a unique color, allowing the operator to
easily spot gaps to maintain uniform coverage. The operator can also toggle to the CMV screen to see which areas have achieved sufficient compaction and which areas may need another pass. CMV estimates the relative comparison of material stiffness, and the drum
bounce detection feature alerts the operator when there is over-compacted material. Assist programs for other equipment categories are also under development and will be unveiled in the coming year. Cc

VOLVO A60H REINVENTS ARTICULATED HAULERS WITH THE A60H 60-TON ARTICULATED TRUCK POWERED BY 673-HP VOLVO D16J ENGINE In 1966, Volvo introduced the industry’s first articulated truck— the 10-ton DR 631, known as Gravel Charlie. Fifty-plus years and 50 tons later, the A60H articulated truck marks another Volvo milestone. Built upon the same engineering advancements as its smaller, industry-leading counterparts, the A60H hauler provides the same off-road capability, now with an impressive 60-ton payload capacity. This hauler class opens increased production opportunities and cost savings potential not previously possible with smaller articulated trucks or rigid trucks in the 60-ton size class. Powered by a 673-horsepower Volvo D16J engine and built upon the legendary Volvo platform, the active hydraulic front suspension, hydro-mechanical steering and high ground clearance at the
articulation joint enable the A60H to easily and comfortably navigate severe terrain, and the rotating hitch design makes the articulation joint virtually maintenance-free. Automatic traction control (ATC) and 100-percent differential locks continue to be a competitive advantage for Volvo. The no-slip,
no-wear differential locks work in 4x6 and 6x6 drive combinations. This industry-unique design employs the front two axles in fulltime, and the back axle kicks in as necessary — allowing unmatched off-road performance while reducing fuel consumption and tire wear. Cc
