welcome to the university of california, berkeley! Behind every action throughout our department, the message is simple and powerful: STUDENTS FIRST!

LeNorman Strong, Associate Vice Chancellor of RSSP Eddie L. Bankston, Assistant Vice Chancellor of Housing & Dining

message from the director I would like to personally welcome you to the award-winning Cal Dining program. We are a self-operated, full-service dining operation for the Cal community, including students, faculty, staff, alumni, parents and guests. It is a great honor and pleasure to serve you in our on-campus dining locations. Our experience has taught us that a passion for serving – not feeding – our customers is the key factor in our ability to grow continuously and provide better service options on campus. I am proud of our recent accomplishments and our groundbreaking organic, sustainable and green initiatives. Dining is not solely about the food that is presented on the plate but the total experience, from menu selection to location atmosphere through to composting at meal’s end. We do everything possible to create a positive and enjoyable dining experience. I personally encourage and welcome your comments and suggestions. The Cal Dining team thrives on feedback from our customers. I want students to feel comfortable communicating directly with me and every Cal Dining staff member. Send us an e-mail, fill out a comment card, or speak with any dining location manager. I look forward to seeing you on-campus. Go Bears!

Shawn LaPean, Director of Cal Dining
