News. SLOW REDUCT ION IN ACT IV E CASES IN MARIKINA, AS OF JULY 3 ARIKINA CITY, NCR — The total amount for active COVID-19 cases has had a significant reduction in Marikina, as of June 3, 2021. From July 1, 2021 to July 3, 2021, the total active cases have continuously decreased - from 194 active cases at the start of July and currently reduced to 150 cases. This substantial decrease in the number of active cases pertains to particular communities in Marikina, wherein it had modifications in minimizing COVID-19 cases — especially in Jesus dela Pena, Sta. Elena, IVC, Kalumpang and Tanong with all of them having and maintaining a number of active cases lower than 5. Moreover, most of the communities in Marikina have only less than 10 active cases, with Parang having 20 active cases, currently being the community that has the highest tally of total cases. Aside from the dropping rate of the number of total active cases in Marikina, there has also been an incremental boost in the number of total recoveries. The recoveries slowly rise by tens, showing a huge gap in recoveries between the previous days. From 10,844 recoveries on July 1, 2021, to 11,151 recoveries on July 3, 2021. Concepcion Uno and Sto. Nino has the highest tallies for the total amount of recoveries, with Concepcion Uno

having 1,247, followed by Sto. Nino with 1,212 recoveries. Industrial Valley Complex (IVC) has the lowest tally, currently with 249 recoveries. For the death tallies, unfortunately, the numbers have also increased. The death toll has been piling up ever since there has been available slots for vaccination, wherein the deaths increased by 10 in a matter of a week. The communities with the greatest deaths recorded are Concepcion Uno, Barangka, Malanday, and Marikina Heights. Malanday with 44 deaths has the highest death tally amongst the four communities, followed by Concepcion Uno with 42 deaths, Barangka with 37 deaths, and Marikina Heights with 36 deaths. In contrast, the community with the lowest deaths is the Industrial Valley Complex with 7 deaths. Although the active cases for COVID-19 are low and the situation is slightly improving in Marikina, one must not forget one important thing — that the pandemic isn’t over yet. Assessing thousands of people who have died, one must be aware and think sharply; for example, withstanding the law and being guided correctly with the advice of medics and the authorities. One must also wear the appropriate equipment

and if one experiences symptoms of the virus, it goes without saying that they must consult and seek advice or clarification from a doctor or the health authorities. Like as the saying goes, "Prevention is better than cure".

News. DUT ERT E WARNS PEOPLE OF UNOF F ICIAL MARKET ING OF VACCINES res. Duterte clarifies and warns people about the vaccines provided by the government, stating that it's not for sale and that people shouldn't press their luck too far, or they "might regret it". The president gave his word after a certain issue was circulating, wherein three suspects were caught selling vaccines to fight against the COVID -19. due to lack of supply of the vaccines. One of the said suspects was also a staff of a public hospital.

"This is very alarming. We condemn these acts and we will not allow perpetrators to go un-

punished. I order every relevant authority to investigate this matter thoroughly and press charges accordingly. Again, let me literate to everyone: the COVID19 vaccines, given by the government, are not for sale. So do not press your luck too far

- you might regret it. Warning ko lang sa inyo ito." Duterte says. For the current moment, the supply for vaccines is an incurring problem in Metro Manila and also in various places, wherein the supposed distribution for the first dose of the vaccines were put at a halt.

Vaccine CZAR Sec. Carlito Galvez Jr. also explains that there were inevitable delays in the supplement of vaccines in the first and last week of the month, which causes the slow supplement in vaccines. On the first day of the month, the vaccines were prepared for deployment, while in the last week of the month, the manufacturers were to prepare for redeploy-

ment, while the suppliers were to have an inventory.

"May mga tinatawag po tayong mga lim weeks, o mga tinatawag naming tagtuyot, na tinatawag po nating mga araw na napakahirap po ng supply during the first week and last week of the month. Kase po, during the first day of the month, nagkakaroon po sila ng tinatawag na preparation for deployment. So nagde-deploy po sila sa mga second wave or week pa po. And then yung last week, ang nangyayari ay nagkakaroon po sila ng inventory, at nagkakaroon ng redeployment ang mga manufacturers." But rest assured, when there's a fair supply for the vaccines, Pfizer will be viable for ages 13 and above. There is also a keen lookout for new variants of COVID-19.

“It is with profound brief that on behalf of our family, I am confirming that our brother, Benigno “Noynoy” S. Aquino III, died peacefully in his sleep. His death certificate announced his death at 6:30 a.m., due to renal disease, secondary to diabetes. No words can express how bro-

ken our hearts are, and how long it will take for us to accept the reality that he is gone.” Pinky Aquino-Abellada said. The siblings recall the former president’s legacy throughout the time of his presidency, stating that it mirrors his personality.

“Kagaya ng serbisyong binigay niya sa bayan, hindi maingay, trabahong galing sa puso. Dahil alam niya, kayo ang boss niya. Kaya nakilala siya bilang si Pnoy, dahil ayaw niyang maramdaman na dapat siyang bigyan ng kakaibang pansin.” says Pinky Aquino-Abellada.

On the way to the former president’s grave at Ateneo de Manila, the university he had studied in for 15 years, many people mourned as they watched. All of his siblings were there with soldiers as the reception of honored guards happened. Many of the people closely associated with the former president, like his cousins and close friends also spoke up for the contributions and sacrifices that he made.

“Alam mo, si Pnoy kasi ang nagbigay ng kalayaan namin eh, ‘no? I wouldn’t be here, literally, if it weren’t for him, and mabigat sa amin iyon. That act of his generosity, magnanimity, hindi namin kakalimutan. Kaya we were indebted so much to

him.” former senator, Sonny Trillanes said. Throughout his rule, the former president has made so many contributions and sacrifices. His contributions will always be a part of the Philippines’ current success, and his memory will always be engraved in the hearts of many people.

Opinion. How did you survive...?? he ongoing global pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 is caused by the severe acute respiratory syndrome. The virus was first identified in December 2019 in Wuhan, China. The World Health Organization declared a Public Health Emergency of International Concern on 30 January 2020 and later declared a pandemic on 11 March 2020. The current coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) is having a profound impact, not only on our health but also on how they learn, work, and live. Among the most dominant challenges created by COVID19 is how to adapt a system of education built around physical schools. At its peak, more than 188 countries, encompassing around 91% of enrolled learners worldwide, closed their schools to try to contain the spread of the virus. School closures have had a massive impact on all students and teachers, such as how they are not used to this kind of setting, to this new normal. Having a hard time connecting to wifi or no mobile data, lack of gadgets, many people are financially broke, and it is hard to find a decent place in your house. Closures can also have considerable effects on student's sense of belonging to schools and their feelings of self-worth – these are key for inclusion in education.

Being used to this new normal is very hard as we are used to the old normal where we interact with people, just like, how the face-to-face classes and online classes. If it is face-to-face, we would likely interact more with each other, and we are used to that setup where we do know how the school system works, but then, the new normal started and created a lot of stuff where we have a hard time doing school tasks and other stuff. Also, if we would compare face-to-face classes and online classes, in face-toface learning, instructors are better able to gauge the understanding and interest of students, and it is easier to generate group excitement about a subject, but, on the other hand, online learning it is hard to do that kind of in-

teraction for teachers and students. However, the online class also do costs less, and you are comfortable at home. Slow wifi, or rather no mobile data because of this problem a lot of students and teachers are not able to pass their tasks on time. Not able to listen to the lessons of the teacher attentively because of the lag. Just like how the students now in this kind of setup are failing because of the lag, because of limited access to connections. Many students get frustrated with how would I answer this, all I can hear is nothing but lag? When they also fail, it can cause them depression which is very bad for their health. Many people are financially broke. The lack of adequate and reliable equipment to be used for education has affected learning. If

a person's microphone is not functioning they would not even be able to recite unless they put their answers on the chatbox, which the teacher may not read or check. For other students, it is hard to learn with the lack to afford a wifi router and had to rely on mobile data or load. If ever a wifi router is affordable, the internet connection might not be that good or stable. As well as the lack of devices, if the person is financially broke, how will they even afford to buy a gadget that costs a lot of money. Finding a decent place in your home is very much likely hard. Wherever there are activities or tasks where you have to film yourself doing a specific task such as dancing, if the chosen area or place is too tiny yet decent, the person would have a difficult time moving. If ever there is a large, wide enough space chosen, however is messy, the person will feel uncomfortable filming. Whether it is a big or small space, it is hard to find a decent place at home. The pandemic brought a lot of struggles not only on health but also on learning. Even though we encounter so many challenges we still keep fighting and learning. Even if it is hard to cope with this setting we keep on going and continuing this journey.

Opinion. Be vaccinated? No, thank you s COVID eventually started, a lot of scientists and researchers are trying to develop vaccines that can cure COVID. A seemingly endless time was consumed to develop vaccines such as Sinovac, AstraZeneca, Johnson & Johnson Vaccine, etc.. However, will it work for sure? Will the vaccine really help the whole world survive the pandemic? Being vaccinated does not prove a fact that "you wouldn't get the Novel Coronavirus anymore", as of now it is not proven that it will surely work. For instance, does being vaccinated really not make you get COVID again, or does it really not let you get COVID. The efficiency rate of COVID vaccines is not accurate because there is a percentage of people that got a positive effect and a percentage that got a negative effect, a negative effect like, even after getting fully vaccinated there are still people that got COVID. Vaccines are tested and evaluated before getting license by the

Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and recommended for use by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Vaccine development is a long, complex process, often lasting 10-15 years and involving a combination of public and private involvement These are all according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention or CDC. From the root disease Sars-Cov-2 or COVID-19 many new variants have been born, such as the contagious UK Variant that occurred first in the United Kingdom or the UK as stated by the World Health Organization. According to the Department of Health or DOH, the first case of the UK Variant in the Philippines was found in January 13,2021. WHO also stated that another variant is that African variant is a dominant virus variant in the Eastern and Western Cape provinces of South Africa. And the vaccines that are being injected to people at present were produced before these enumerated new variants of COVID-19. Furthermore, just like most vaccines, it has side effects and COVID vaccines are no different. Fever, severe headaches, sore

muscles, tiredness, nausea, etc. are some of the example side effects of COVID vaccines. Some people especially with comorbidities, like heart disease, lung cancer, or asthma, as doctors labeled, may not cope with these side effects and may lead to a frightening event like death. As classified from WHO, a vaccine's specific characteristics, several factors such as a person's age, their underlying health conditions, or previous exposure to COVID-19 will have an impact on a vaccine’s effectiveness. Also, do not yet know how long immunity from different COVID-19 vaccines will last. One of these vaccines is from the Johnson & Johnson Vaccine, there was a blood clotting symptom that occured. According to experts, there were about 5 in a million that got this rare symptom. Regardless of this fact, myself or you can be the one in the 5 in a million that will get the blood clotting side effect. Other side effects of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine are: shortness of breath, persistent stomach pain, severe or persistent headaches or blurred vision, chest pain, leg swelling, and easy bruising or tiny red spots on the skin beyond the injection site. With all these stated facts from the Food and Drug Administration or FDA, it is still not proven that vaccines will surely be safe and prevent the spread of the virus. In addItion, COVID Vaccines are very expensive. The Government estimates that It will spend an average cost of around PHP 1,300.00 per person for the vaccine. A

lot of people lost their jobs, or their business in this time of pandemic, there was a huge loss on our economy as well, and a lot of people starve to death. A minimum-income earner can't even afford to buy food or essential goods to survive. Thus, how can that person be expected to afford buying a PHP 1,300.00 vaccine than essential food? A COVID vaccine that is not even for sure will prevent that person from getting the virus. Community herd, as frequently stated by specialists, is important but the vaccine is not yet proven safelyeffective. Clear truth is religiously following the safety protocols: wearing a face mask and a face shield all the time, washing hands frequently or having our hands sanitized with alcohol at all times, practicing social distancing, and avoiding mass gatherings, etc. can prevent people from a scary positive infection of COVID-19. Ever, prevention will always be better than cure. Getting infected of COVID-19 reduces by just following the safety protocols even without getting vaccinated. For in-

Opinion. stance, in a public market when all of the people there follow the safety protocols, will the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 even spread? Or in a public transportation practicing the safety protocols such as social distancing and wearing a face mask and a face shield at all times, will the virus even spread all over? When the COVID-19 blasted in December 2019 many people have survived fighting the Novel Coronavirus even without the vaccines. Even before the vaccine showed up many people survived fighting the virus without even getting vaccinated.

Reality, it is much safer to stay at home, and religiously follow the safety protocols instead of getting vaccinated. Not yet to be vaccinated at the moment but did not say never, soon, until proven 100% safe.

Opinion. IT’S NOT ALWAYS THE GAME umerous of our civilizations usually undertaken for entertainment or fun, and sometimes used as an educational method these popular games from the internet. Unlike our traditional Filipino games are played manually in the streets right before the pandemic starts. But ever since the lockdown period, there has been an increase in user engagement in online gaming. Gaming has been reported throughout the day, with a peak gaming time from 8 pm until midnight. Because of hours spent playing video games, video game addicts exhibit fatigue and regularly sleep during online classes. They may not complete assignments or may not turn assignments in on time. Video game addiction leads to a loss of interest in after-school activities, including social clubs and sports. For some reason, adults believe that canceling or disabling mobile games. They also explain the extreme engagement in online gaming is strongly associated with Satan and their poor personalities and academic performance among school-going. But why should we not cancel mobile games? The first reason is that the researchers came up with an analysis to show that there is also a considerable impact in mobile games on their manner and the health of pupils. To come to think of it, playing mobile games have encouraging effects on the players playing a game like Mobile Legends which is one of an online game favored by adolescents. They most likely entertain them-

selves by playing games to relieve stress and to have fun. Which is one of the beneficial ways for them to manage stress effectively. Adding this up, playing video games is well known to contribute certain health benefits from decreasing depression and even developing a general good feeling. While this might sound like a ridiculous claim, there is lots of available evidence to support it. Another justification is that some educational gameplays are important for individualized learning that is designed to help people learn about certain subjects, expand concepts, reinforce development, understand a historical event or culture, or assist them in learning a skill as they play. This also helps them to develop hand/eye coordination which is the effect of playing for hours that would surely sharpen a child's ability. The study also reinforces the claim that like exercise, playing games for as little as 30 minutes a day, can improve our daily lives.

“A game is an opportunity to focus our energy, with relentless optimism, at something we're good at (or getting better at) and enjoy. In other words, the gameplay is the

direct emotional opposite of depression,” said Jane McGonical, a game designer and author who advocates the use of mobile and digital technology to channel positive attitudes and collaboration in a realworld context. Wanting to say that we can use video games to achieve great things. We can use it to political ends that we have always dreamed of; namely, popular democracy. We can use it to seize the power of representative democracy and replace it with a bottom-up form of government. And she uses some staggering statistics to help prove my point. Not her point, but mine. She shows that player participation in online gaming is at a ludicrously high level. Her positivism has made her blind but made her relentless. Regardless, it is not completely the game's fault. It's also the parenthood that led them to become like that. If they can't control their youngsters in handling their phones or any gadgets in particular. If their child is obsessed with something, they need to teach them a lesson like admonish them to behave or control. By this means, they can control their time or schedule. Doing this process can also help them to not abuse the chance from their parents to play since they are disciplined. That

is

why

the

parent's role is needed through interpersonal communication to overcome these addictive behaviors. These pupils still need guidance and it's their parenting duty to keep their children to be safe and healthy. They don't have to blame or have a problem in the game since the problem is their parenthood which leads them to their addiction. Not only the parents but adults as well need to educate the younger ones. By guiding and teaching those who play video games, they can help to ease the problem they interfere with.

In other words, playing may be a fun thing to do. It may have a lot of bad impacts, but behind that ugly side, we still get benefits that have a great influence. Gaming is not always the reason for the bad attitude we make but the parenthood too. If we want to lessen the gaming obsession, people must

learn to be responsible.

Features. l can be the outstanding student you want me to be, but.. n a way, people can obnoxiously use pressure on youth so that they can improve in education. This pressure can be presented in the way they verbally express their disappointment when their child has low marks in certain subjects. This parenting style works for me, but makes me stable and unstable at certain times. This way of assisting youth in life can be considered as tough love, or an emotional impact to a child's mindset. Being myself and a responsible student at the same time is difficult. Given that everyone is also going through these trying times, one must adapt to catch up to their new life's pace. I follow the path that my parents want for me, while persistently carrying my own interests along with me. For a physically unstable person, it's hard to keep up to both at the same time. For me, calculating math equations for a test and reading soft fanfictions that comfort me at the same pace can be physically draining. It's a selfsustaining system of some sort that also damages myself. Because of the constant pressure in my education, I set up expectations on myself. But because of those

expectations and pressure, the probability of me feeling tired is high. I can be reliable enough that I can carry the burden of assisting group members in certain tasks, or useless to the point that my responses don't even help one bit. I can be so hard working to the point I can finish four to five task subjects in a day or lazy enough to put aside my activities for the new week. Two months after handling online school, I decided to pass my tasks early, four or

five days before the intended deadline. After the IPT was introduced, I wasn't physically able to fulfill that goal. Then after getting a hand of what and how the IPT was supposed to be, I decided to rewrite my schedule and plan everything again. But, as the tasks constantly stack the more

means that I have never accomplished the things I was supposed to do. I remember myself asking, "How did I become like this?". Because, from the years of my life that I've been working hard for, never had I been struck with such overwhelming events in the span of 6 years in elementary school. Considering that I also have my own interests as I grow up, I then thought of limiting the things I can do both in my education and in indulging in my interests. I then thought, “I deserve this,

I focus on the IPT, I couldn't maintain my own plan. Which

right?”, although I still think of it as something that may affect my education. After some time, I happen to slowly be able to extend the time for my leisurely rest but that doesn’t mean I stopped working on my school assignments. Well, I may have passed some outputs three days or even a week after its deadline, but what matters for me is that I can get the rest I wanted. I can also still be able to keep on passing outputs even if they continuously stack while also

Being able to keep yourself together even when under constantly weighing circumstances is something that I learned, alone is something that amazes me. Imagine, an unstable person that isn’t good with schedules can still keep up with school and also their personal life?

From the experiences I've had up until now, pressuring children in education should be kept in check, considering that there is more than educational excellence in a child's wellbeing. To maintain a youth's mental and physical stability means supporting them in different circumstances in life, so that they can develop further. People must know that the child's interests shouldn't be put aside for the parents' expectations. Sure, some people may handle that kind of treatment, some can endure that “tough love” treatment, like

me. But this kind of pressure shouldn’t be put on children, especially when they happen to decline in the high standards that the parents want. Children have yet so much time to develop themselves. Having carried both the pressure my parents give me, and the high expectations set on me just because of entering a prestigious school, I can say that, for children to experience something this heavy, specifically educational pressure, shouldn’t be something they should experience at all. Let the children enjoy themselves while letting them know that they need to
