combination of fun and exciting, but also a tad stressful and intimidating. That second part is why it’s so important to hire a photographer you can trust, that clicks well with your personality and brings a sense of peace and assurance to your wedding day. With so many photographers to choose from, I’m honored that you’re considering Caley Newberry Photography. One thing all weddings have in common is that the day will fly by for the bride and groom. I’d love to be a part of that day to ensure you can remember every detail, every love-filled-glance and every once-in-a-lifetime moment for years to come. There are a lot of questions to ask and information to retain, and this planning guide is meant to walk you through all your photography-related questions and a few unique highlights that I offer my couples.

WEDDINGS I have three goals for each wedding I shoot. The first, naturally, is to capture the most stunning and timeless images that you’ll truly view as an investment. The second is to get to know my couples and have fun with you before, on and even after your wedding day — to be an encouragement to your marriage, not just your wedding. I also want to cultivate an atmosphere where, even if the schedule is completely off or your flower girl spills pink nail polish on her white dress (totally happened at my wedding), I can help you stay relaxed and assured that we’ll still get every shot we need. I believe that the attitude of your photographer can change the overall enjoyment of your day, so I try to balance my laid back, sometimes quirky personality with the get-it-doneness and professionalism every photographer needs. No matter what, I want to reflect the joyous occasion your marriage already is. With features ranging from a complimentary engagement session to a same-day slideshow, I try to make the wedding photography experience a positive one for both you and your guests. With that, I recommend a few things to help enhance that experience for you and those there to celebrate you.

ENGAGEMEN

NT SESSIONS

Most wedding packages include a free engagement session. There are several reasons I do this, beyond the fact that I adore engagement photos. They not only help you feel comfortable in front of the camera for your wedding, but we also get to know one another, so I’ll learn how you love each other best in photos. All that mushy stuff leaves you with stunning portraits I think you’ll love just as much as your wedding photos. Most

people

prefer

to

have

their

engagement photos taken outdoors, so we’ll typically start your session about an hour before sunset to capture the best light. You’re welcome to bring a change of clothes — I recommend blending a mixture of colors and textures, but the most important thing is to choose an outfit that makes you feel Beyoncé hot. Engagement

sessions

take

place

Monday through Thursday, so be sure to plan ahead with work or school when we’re scheduling.

ULTIMATE GIFT

BOUDOIR SESSIONS If the idea of a boudoir session sounds weird and uncomfortable to you, hear me out for just one minute. When a lot of people think of boudoir, they get the totally wrong idea. In fact, when I told my cousin I was offering these sessions, she did a quick Google search and was nervous for my salvation. And a little grossed out. It’s not like that. These boudoir sessions lose just enough to really catch his eye but leave just enough on that it catches his heart as well. You’re beautiful — he already knows that — and one of the best gifts you can give him is to let him see that you know it (and feel it), too. Simply put, that confidence is attractive to any man who loves his wife. I love the way these sessions celebrate what a marriage is all about: total comfort and security, all wrapped in endless love. So strap on your favorite heels, find some lingerie that fits you just right, and knock your man’s socks off with an incredibly thoughtful gift that

shows how bold and brave and strong and fierce and completely, naturally, perfectly gorgeous you are. Just trust me when I say, I’ve seen enough reactions to know he’ll absolutely love it. Each boudoir session includes professional hair and makeup, false eyelashes, a few head shots of you while we’re at it, and just the right amount of bubbly. Sessions take place in my private studio space in East Nashville, and flexible payment plans are available. You can choose from a variety of keepsakes as a reminder to both of you that he married a brave, beautiful, confident woman. (That’s you.)

YOUR WEDDING

UNPLUGGED

CAPTURING THE

DETAILS Before your wedding, I’ll ask you to fill out a super quick rather extensive questionnaire. This tells me all the things you don’t want me to miss, marking that off our checklist ahead of time. I’ll then work with your planner and send you a to-the-minute photo schedule so everyone knows where to be and when. We’ll be so organized you’ll say “I can’t believe this creative photographer is so well-planned and Type A!” I’m totally faking that part, which comes in handy if the timeline gets thrown off for whatever reason. We’ll still get every photo we want and relax in knowing we gave a schedule our very best shot.

AFTER

R I DO

WHEN ONE G E N E R AT I O N BECOMES THE NEXT

Following your wedding day, I’ll edit and upload all of your photos to your online gallery, which will already contain your engagements and the photos from your same-day slideshow. I’ll work with you to choose the best way to get your photos off a screen and on display. (See that bold there? That means it’s important.) Since we’ll all be BFFs by then, I’d love to have you and your families over to the studio for a preview and ordering session, where you’ll get discounts on all printed products and help you decide how each product and album could fit with your personal style. I can show you exactly what each size print will look like on your walls to help you visualize what you’re ordering. But I also know newlywed life is busy, so you can certainly do it all online as well.

ALBUMS

This is the part where I mention again to print your photos. Though it sounds self-serving — and I do love seeing prints and albums — this is not for me, I promise. This is for 20 years down the road when your kids run across your wedding album. This is for when you pull out a big box of photos and sit with your family, filtering through them (I obviously have no tips on how to organize photos since we have a box), and you laugh and cry at how wonderful those memories are. Passing around printed photos is so much more theraputic and heart warming than everyone staring at the photos in their Camera Roll. We tend to think that digital is what makes photos last forever, but that’s so far from the truth. It’s print that takes your photos down the generations, print that’s not subject to digital degeneration, print that you can hold in your hand, print that’s preserved. Because of aforementioned box, I adore these albums. Since they’re almost completely seamless, it allows for full-spread images that help tell the story of your day in dramatic and gorgeous fashion. This is an album your children will look at and love years down the road, once they stop making fun of what you’re wearing. These albums are printed on thick photographic paper with professional printers Shutterfly lifetime

You can make any changes you want, and we’ll place your order!

YAY! I love you too! I’ll start on your friendship bracelet right away. This will serve as your formal contract. [Edit: OK, my lawyer said that won’t work and I should probably scale back the affection. My bad.] But it’s still really easy. Pick whichever package you want, and I’ll send you an easy-to-understand contract. You’ll sign it and pay your retainer either online or by sending a check. That’s it! Payment plans are just as easy. As long as your final balance is paid 14 days prior to your wedding, the rest of your payments can be made however is best for you. Now, all you have to do is find a florist, a caterer, a cake artist, a dress and scour Pinterest for hours to make sure you’ve found all the coolest details. No biggie! But I’m here to help with whatever guidance and recommendations you need along the way. Thank you so much for considering Caley Newberry Photography. Let’s fill your day with joy.
