combination of fun and exciting, but also a tad stressful and intimidating. That second part is why it’s so important to hire a photographer you can trust, that clicks well with your personality and brings a sense of peace and assurance to your wedding day. With so many photographers to choose from, I’m honored that you’re considering Caley Newberry Photography. One thing all weddings have in common is that the day will fly by for the bride and groom. I’d love to be a part of that day to ensure you can remember every detail, every love-filled-glance and every once-in-a-lifetime moment for years to come. There are a lot of questions to ask and information to retain, and this planning guide is meant to walk you through all your photography-related questions and a few unique highlights that I offer my clients.

WEDDINGS I have three goals for each wedding I shoot. The first, naturally, is to capture the most stunning and timeless images that you’ll truly view as an investment. The second is to get to know my couples and have fun with you before, on and even after your wedding day — to be an encouragement to your marriage, not just your wedding. I also want to cultivate an atmosphere where, even if the schedule is completely off or your flower girl spills pink nail polish on her white dress (totally happened at my wedding), I can help you stay relaxed and assured that we’ll still get every shot we need. I believe that the attitude of your photographer can change the overall enjoyment of your day, so I try to balance my laid back, sometimes quirky personality with the get-it-doneness and professionalism every photographer needs. No matter what, I want to reflect the joyous occasion your marriage already is. With features ranging from a complimentary engagement session to a same-day slideshow, I try to make the wedding photography experience a positive one for both you and your guests. With that, I recommend a few things to help enhance that experience for you and those there to celebrate you.
Engagement
ngagement SessionS
Most wedding packages include a free engagement session. There are several reasons I do this, beyond the fact that I adore engagement photos. They not only help you feel comfortable in front of the camera for your wedding, but we also get to know one another, so I’ll learn how you love each other best in photos. All that mushy stuff leaves you with stunning portraits I think you’ll love just as much as your wedding photos. Most

their
engagement photos taken outdoors, so we’ll typically start your session about an hour before sunset to capture the best light. You’re welcome to bring a change of clothes — I recommend blending a mixture of colors and textures, but the most important thing is to choose an outfit that makes you feel Beyoncé hot. Engagement

BOUDOIR SESSIONS If the idea of a boudoir session sounds weird and uncomfortable to you, hear me out for just one minute. When a lot of people think of boudoir, they get the totally wrong idea. In fact, when I told my cousin I was offering these sessions, she did a quick Google search and was nervous for my salvation. And a little grossed out. It’s not like that. These boudoir sessions lose just enough to really catch his eye but leave just enough on that it catches his heart as well. You’re beautiful — he already knows that — and one of the best gifts you can give him is to let him see that you know it (and feel it), too. Simply put, that confidence is attractive to any man who loves his wife. I love the way these sessions celebrate what a marriage is all about: total comfort and security, all wrapped in endless love. So strap on your favorite heels, find some lingerie that fits you just right, and knock your man’s socks off with an incredibly thoughtful gift that

shows how bold and brave and strong and fierce and completely, naturally, perfectly gorgeous you are. Just trust me when I say, I’ve seen enough reactions to know he’ll absolutely love it. If I were continuing the Saved By The Bell theme here, this would be called the “I’m So Excited—I’m So Scared!” Package. But that nervous feeling goes away fast. Each boudoir session includes professional hair and makeup, a comfortable, private location and just the right amount of bubbly. You can choose from a variety of keepsakes as a reminder to both of you that he married a brave, beautiful, confident woman. (That’s you.)

Before your wedding, I’ll ask you to fill out a super quick rather extensive questionnaire. This tells me all the things you don’t want to miss, marking that off our checklist ahead of time. I’ll then work with your planner and send you a tothe-minute photo schedule so everyone knows where to be and when. We’ll be so organized you’ll say “I can’t believe this creative photographer is so well-planned and Type A!” I’m totally faking that part, which comes in handy if the timeline gets thrown off for whatever reason. We’ll still get every photo we want and relax in knowing we gave a schedule our best shot.
INSTANT GRATIFICATION The first part of your wedding that your guests see is your ceremony. While they are there to support you through your vows and celebrate with you at the reception, they miss some of the best moments, like when you see each other for the first time, or when your bridesmaids and groomsmen totally rock their formals, when your mom tears up as you put on your dress. They may not notice that bracelet you’re wearing is your grandma’s.
YOU’LL HAVE A PREVIEW OF YOUR IMAGES BEFORE YOU EVEN HIT THE DANCE FLOOR.
While you and your guests are eating, I’ll quickly prepare a same-day slideshow to catch everyone up on 10-15 of the moments they’ve missed throughout the day so far. I’ll set up a little table at your reception and play the slideshow all evening, so you’ll have a preview of your images before you even hit the dance floor. Your guests will love seeing photos of the two of you right at the reception, and you’ll be
even more excited about what’s to come. These are the same photos I’ll upload to your online gallery, so you can enjoy them while you’re on your honeymoon and awaiting that much-anticipated email that the rest of your photos are ready. Hey, it’s an Instagram culture, and I want you to be prepared with a little instant gratification. Or should I say, Instagramification?

sacrificed certain details of my wedding day to have better photo and video — a better way to actually remember those details I paid for and picked so carefully. My memories weren’t worth the small price differences, and neither are yours. From a photographer’s standpoint, having a great video team that understands how to work with a photographer makes the day a breeze, and no one does that better than Cardboard Films. I’ve known Taylor and Payton for 12 years now, and I wouldn’t consider anyone else for my own video needs. And they’re super cool. All of our videography packages include your entire ceremony and every important moment, beginning at just $1,800.

Following your wedding day, I’ll edit and upload all of your photos to your online gallery, which will already contain your engagements and the photos from your same-day slideshow. Since each package comes with a print credit, I’ll work with you to choose the best way to get your photos off a screen and on display. (See that bold there? That means it’s important.) Since we’ll all be BFFs by then, I’d love to meet with you in person for an ordering session to help you decide how each product and album could fit with your personal style. I can show you exactly what each size print will look like on your walls to help you visualize what you’re ordering. But I also know newlywed life is busy, so you can certainly do it all online as well.

GUEST BOOKS If you’re considering using one of your engagement photos for your save-the-dates or ordering a photo guest book for your ceremony and reception, I’m happy to take care of that for you! I have several save-the-date designs to choose from (you can order them at caleynewberry.com/store), and I’ll drop your chosen engagement photo in with your wedding details. Or, if you buy a template from Etsy and need a printer, I’m happy to customize and print that, as well. This will give you the best quality products with the least amount of effort. The photo guest books are my favorite way to have a documentation of guests’ notes to you because you can pull it out when you want and tuck it away if you want to, as well. All you have to do is choose your favorite engagement photos, and I’ll create a thoughtful layout with plenty of white space for guests to leave notes and well wishes. The photo cover wraps all the way around the book and is made with my favorite Fuji Deep Matte paper, which is great for photographic printing as well as writing. These photo books are priced competitvely with a similar book by Shutterfly, and you don’t have to worry about Shutterfly’s often-horrendous quality. :) This can also be purchased in the online store or added to any wedding package.

YAY! I love you too! I’ll start on your friendship bracelet right away. This will serve as your formal contract. Pick whichever package you want, and I’ll send you an easy-to-understand contract. You’ll sign it and pay your retainer either online or by sending a check. That’s it! Payment plans are just as easy. As long as your final balance is paid 14 days prior to your wedding, the rest of your payments can be made however is best for you. Now, all you have to do is find a florist, a caterer, a cake artist, a dress and scour Pinterest for hours to make sure you’ve found all the coolest details. No biggie! But I’m here to help with whatever guidance and recommendations you need along the way. Thank you so much for considering Caley Newberry Photography. Let’s fill your day with joy.
