Quilting! Spring Hopes: Machine Appliqué Class

with Beth Broadway 2 Thursdays: April 28 & May 5 5:00 – 8:00 pm Create a beautiful 14 x 56” wall hanging that celebrates the wonder of spring!

Take home a wonderful project and the lifetime skills of beautiful machine appliqué when you join this fantastic class. Learn to prepare your appliqué pieces and receive a complete lesson on different types of fusibles and stabilizers. Beth includes detailed instruction on a variety of stitches - buttonhole, satin, zig zag and straight appliqué. Fee: $35

Patchwork Pansy Table Runner

Opening Night Quilt

 Scott is at it again - with a quick quilt starting with 6 fat quarters. The quilt goes together quickly using coordinating fabrics. Easy and simple and no seams to match! End up with a good-size 53” x 71” quilt! Come with your pieces cut, keep going in class and go home with the top mostly finished on this fun project. Fee: $10

T-Shirt Quilts with Gay Silkey

 Everyone has a box of T-shirts they can’t part with, yet no longer wear. It’s the emotional attachment! Good news - these shirts make excellent quilts! Because they are knits, there are few tricks to working with them. Gay has made several Tshirt quilts and she is happy to share her techniques with you. Bring some shirts and turn them into pillows, quilts or even totes.This class will cover the basics of cutting, sewing and preparing T-shirts for a variety of projects. Basic sewing and cutting skills required. Fee: $20

 3 Mondays: May 2, 9 and 23 5:30 – 8:30 pm
 New to quilting? Or, just looking for a powerful refresher? Nina teaches the tips and techniques that you’ll need to begin your next project. In three sessions, become familiar with the basic steps of quilt construction, accurate rotary cutting, machine piecing, basting, machine quilting and binding while making a decorative table topper. By the end of the class, you’ll have the confidence to start your own quilt. Class includes discussion of fabric choice and preparation, threads, needles and much more. Fee: $45

 For those of you who LOVE Kathy’s bag classes, she has a treat for you! The Aeroplane Bag is functional and beautiful and totally wonderful! Perfect for travel, you can pack a few days worth of clothing and essentials inside! The bottom of the bag is sturdy, and the top zipper is easy to install – no hand sewing necessary! Choose from two sizes (regular and long), or make both! Fee: $40

Stitching Clubs! Bloom Sew Along

 2nd Thursday each month all year!
 Choose 10 am - noon or 6:00 - 8:00 pm
 Our longest running club at Calico Gals has openings in the morning or evening group. Join the “social club for quilters” and enjoy a time of sharing and fun. In 2016 we will work from Lori Holt’s Farm Girl Vintage book. Create a sampler from the mix and match blocks or choose from the bushels of projects - quilts to potholders - included in the book. Fee: $36 for the year includes a 15% discount on book and fabric.

 Lori Holt’s online “sewalong” has the Calico Gals sewing along too! Join Marcia and Kathy and stitch up the Bloom blocks. Stitching together with friends is always more fun! Simple What Nots Club

 Foundation Piecers! Have you ever started a project you love and then another pops up, and another, and another? By now you may need a little support to get back to it! Julie has help for you! Come on in, bring your paper piecing projects to work on, share and chat with other piecers and just have fun. Stop in one time or every month. Fee: $10.00 per month.

Garden Walk with Nina Dukette
 Mondays: May 23, June 27 & July 18 10:30 am – 1:30 pm It's back! This is the 6 month series that has been getting so much buzz at Calico Gals. Consider it continuing education for your machine! Discover that your machine can do so much more than piecing! Use fusible machine appliqué as the basis of the blocks and follow lessons on bobbinwork, fringe foot, wing needle, couching, sewing in circles, twin needles, ruffler, mini piping and much more. Class fee: $70 includes three months of classes

 So you don't have time for a 6 month club? You spoke, we listened!
 All of the Kim Diehl projects can now be done on a month to month basis. Choose any month that tickles your fancy! Each mini quilt includes all fabrics, pattern and a 2 hour class with Marcia. All this for just $40.00! If you love the kit but just can't squeeze in the 2 hour class, stop in and check out the options for pick up and take out.

NEW Bento Box Swap with Lynn Schantz
 First swap blocks due July 1 Join the swap and use up your batik scraps! Create 5 blocks a month for 6 months, bring them in by the 1st and Lynn will swap them out by the 15th. Join Lynn on Sunday May 1, noon - 3:00 pm, for a Bento Box lunch and demo to get started on your blocks. $15 to join the swap includes the Bento Box pattern and the lunch demo class!

12 beautiful sampler blocks in a 82” x 98” quilt. $10 per month Join “A New Age” and create a wonderful quilt, one block at a time, throughout the year of 2016. Each monthly kit includes the pattern and fabric to make one block. Month one includes background fabric for all 12 months. $10 per month began February 1 - but you can catch up!

$40 registration fee includes month one and the finishing kit of pattern and fabric for the outer borders

Use classic piecing techniques to piece the center patchwork, then add the family script lettering and leaves to each end. The blocks feel contemporary, but would look beautiful across any table. Judy Niemeyer classes have very specific cutting techniques. Choose how you want to prepare for your class:

1 -Cutting Class! Prep for class ahead of time with Julie’s support.

2 -cut and organize on your own and come to class with everything ready to sew.

Either way, come to class with all of your bags organized. Be ready to start sewing and watch your beautiful precision-cut and pieced project come together!

Start with Cutting Class and learn to accurately and efficiently cut and prepare the paper foundation pattern pieces and/or paper templates, cut and manage your fabric having it all labeled and organized in bags by unit. After taking this class, you will know how to cut any of the Judy Niemeyer patterns. Fee: $25

 Did you see the NY Beauty black, white and red Consortium raffle quilt that is hanging at Calico Gals! It’s amazing! Join Julie and learn to make this intriguing pattern. Spend the day and learn to organize and cut the Judy Niemeyer way. Get comfortable with paper piecing and curved piecing which will result in a stunning quilt. The shop sample is in black, white and red fabrics, but feel free to choose any color combination of contrasting fabrics.
