More than a gracious home, this lake-view jewel recalls the charm and ambience of a European village. A main villa plus four private and beautifully-appointed casitas completed only 2 years ago, yet look as if they’ve taken centuries to perfect. Even in the special world that is Lake Las Vegas, this property stands out. Every detail and finish has been chosen with care. History, expert artistry and craftsmanship sing throughout. Sweeping lake and mountain views will take your breath away. From the moment you drive through the private gates onto cobblestones imported from Europe, you anticipate something special. Consider: a warm, comfortable home that offers every amenity, from a professional European kitchen, to the salt water pool with waterfall spa to a separate golf cart port—even a pet spa. Add the most precious finishings: custom-painted ceilings, reclaimed antique materials, hand-painted tiles, workmanship of impeccable quality, carvings sourced from Europe and South America. The main villa offers a master suite with sanctuary and private loggia. Guests are treated with equal regard. Each guest house is a private haven. The fourth is furnished as a private office/library. In total, four bedrooms and six baths make up this special residence. The look and feel are pure Old World luxury.

n Owner’s Vision Lori Venners, LVI Design
My vision was to have a new house that lived and looked old-warm, comfortable, and inviting -- a little European village. The shape of the lot dictated the compound concept with four guest houses one of which is used as an office. A key factor was my desire to accommodate overnight guests and wanting to create privacy. I wanted to use some reclaimed materials, mainly from Europe to authenticate the
Thomas Oppelt of Paddle Creek Design, was referred to me by the builder, Greg Kaffka, of Vesta Development. At our first meeting I knew we had the common denominator and that we were on the same mission. I had been compiling photos that I could incorporate into the project for several years. As I showed the first photos to Tom, he informed me he had spent his honeymoon in Tuscany and was also passionate about the look. Some changes were made along the way to maximize the incredible view which was not visible on the renderings. My mentor was a dear and very talented friend who had built her own incredible home here at the lake a few years prior. We traveled to Europe together and I felt so fortunate to have her creative influence during the process. The ceiling shape in the Gathering Room was designed by a gentleman from Barcelona, who also designed the cabinet detail, exterior columns, and window surrounds. He worked with the stone masons in laying up the exterior stone for an authentic installation.
The interior paintings and murals were done by a talented artist. It is all free-hand - She “dirties” the process to create the appearance of age. She is such an amazing woman and we became good friends along the way.

The cabinets are reclaimed from a building in Chicago to which Al Capone is said to have had ties. The hardwood flooring was installed by a team of Europeans. The materials are reclaimed, hand scraped from Austria. I used a blend of ash, larch and spruce throughout the project.
The exterior and dining room canterra stone was hand quarried and imported from Tlaquepaque, Mexico. The doors are solid core and also manufactured in Tlaquepaque. Another great resource was a gentleman in Ecuador named “Marco,” a master carver who I never had the opportunity to meet. He has been issued many awards by his government for his talent as a master carver. The house is adorned with his workmanship in built-ins and furnishings. I was led to him through a network of friends, one of whom lived in Ecuador at one time.
The stairwell iron and terrace iron railings were custom made in Tlaquepaque. Their crew flew here from Mexico to assemble and install. Most window and french doors are dual Pane Argon gas filled glass with silver oxide coating. The French doors and windows are Kobe, except for the Wyland door leading to the Hearth Room.
Many of the light fixtures were custom made in Tlaquepaque. Others are antique, including in the dining room, which is 19th century Italian neoclassical, the pendant over the master bathtub, and the sconces in Il Campanile. Il Campanile, the Bell Tower, has Larch flooring which I had whitewashed. Closet doors were antique gates from Belgium which were separated to make the wardrobe. The birdhouses outside this casita were all handmade in the Amish country and have become a haven to some of the most interesting species of birds. The tile installer is Bulgarian. I chose hand-painted tiles for the kitchens of Casa Campasino and Casa Sustantivo as well as the main house kitchen and Butlers pantry. Among the amenities, most of the marble and granite countertops were honed to give an aged look. The pantry in the kitchen and wet bar upstairs could act as an elevator shaft if necessary. The utility room also features an MTI dog spa. The swimming pool and spa are salt-water. Two of the four casitas are self-contained with kitchens, 18” Bosch dishwashers, Sub-Zero refrigerators, and microwaves, one with a cook-top and washer and dryer.
