Fields of Light In Täby, a suburb near Stockholm, Sweden, modern city planning has caused monofunctional areas, resulting in a disconnection between the city centre and the surrounding housing estates. With a masterplan, the city is now trying to foster public space. The redesign of a central square in the heart of Täby is a direct result of this masterplan, and a key project to generate vibrant life in the city – in this case, with the help of light.
The new square in the center of Täby has different materials and a complex, dynamic lighting system that creates various urban scenarios throughout the year.

Urban Living Room In Zaha Hadid Architects’ new flood protection system, lighting design plays an important role in linking the port with the city. The specific and reduced use of light presents the city’s and Port of Hamburg’s lighting as a wild spectacle. At the same time it also illustrates the new opportunities lighting design provides for urban design.

A PARK IN THE CELLAR The great success of the High Line in New York City has now led to the development of the Lowline, which is also originally based on private initiative. The so-called Lowline Lab, where the feasibility of the underground park is being tested, has been the only active component up to now. If the project is actually built, New York would have yet another attraction.
An island of lush greenery in a windowless room, illuminated by a complex system of parabolic mirrors and optical lenses – the prototype of the Lowline, New York’s next possible signature garden project, evokes an almost dystopian image.
