Rural Women’s Breakfast Bowhill Community Centre ural women in the Murraylands will have the opportunity to hear a top Adelaide speaker over breakfast at Bowhill late in March. Women in Agriculture and Business will host the Doing it Differently Breakfast at the Bowhill Community Centre on Saturday 26th March. The guest speaker is Dr Denise Keenan, an Adelaide Organisational Psychologist. Her topic is Managing Change and she will examine change as a positive opportunity instead of a threat and look at how to influence behaviour for desirable change. WAB State President, Adair Dunsford from Keith, who will be attending the meeting said the Bowhill event is one of a series of breakfast meetings being run by WAB in rural SA. She said WAB and the rural community had been discussing Climate Change and WAB had decided to zero in on the subject of Change itself and look at exactly what it takes to make
changes. “Rural women are often the catalysts for change in their families, businesses and communities. “This is a role and a topic which needs to be discussed and supported and WAB is pleased to be at the forefront of this,” Mrs Dunsford said. Dr Keenan who is the owner of Cognition, an Adelaide based psychology practice, is a well regarded speaker for WAB having run Work-Life Balance workshops in the past. WAB was successful in obtaining a Community Sustainability grant from Conservation Council SA and the State Government to fund some of the costs of the breakfast. 2010 Year 12 Merit Award

n Tuesday 8 February, Lucinda Kendall attended a reception at Government House for 2010 SACE Year 12 Merit winners (20 out of 20). John Lamb (ABC Radio) presented Lucinda with her award. Lucinda was accompanied by her father, Michael Kendall and one of her teachers Jo Heward. Lucinda received this award for her studies in Integrated Learning. It was one of 1038 Merit Awards presented to 745 South Australian Year 12 students. In addition to her studies at Mannum Community College, Lucinda was a Student Leader. She has now been accepted into a Bachelor of Arts - Teaching, at Flinders University.

Mannum Community and Business Gatherings
The first event will be held at the Mannum Motel Café on Wednesday 6th April 2011, from 7:00am. The guest speaker will start about 7:30am. It is anticipated that the event will finish about 8:30am. For the subsidised fee of $10 you can enjoy a cooked breakfast, listen to the guest key note speaker and be briefed by Council and other key regional stakeholders. More details about the mystery guest speaker will be published in the April Mannum Mag. For catering purposes bookings are required.
