Weekend entry is free for spectators. This year we are excited to announce the event has received official Paddling Australia/Australian Canoeing sanctioning. This reassures all participants and sponsors that the event comes with a guaranteed level of management and quality. To attain the sanctioning the MRTA Incorporated has demonstrated that the event complies with Canoe Australia Key Principles: Safety, Integrity, Organisation, Accessibility. Floatfest is all about WATER; environmental, water safety, and promoting the importance of healthy lifestyle/recreational paddling activities within the region – Murray
River, Lakes and Coorong. With this sanctioning the MRTA Inc is sure that this will generate interest in paddling and the growth of paddling sports, whilst at the same time showing off the mighty Murray River – which has always had a strong water sport culture. Please support this exciting fun event, and spread the word – “Paddles to the ready!” For further enquiries contact Jen Whitehorn, Chairperson MRTA Inc. mrta@hotmail.com.au. “It is wonderful to see the Morgan community celebrating the town’s rich history ... one of the busiest ports both for rail and river in the State,” said Mid Murray Mayor Dave Burgess. “The Morgan Living River event will showcase the Landseer Building, wharf and the rail precinct which are testimony to these golden days of trade. “The current plans in place to reignite this important piece of Australia’s history will soon see the first stage of building with the installation of a giant paddle steamer play structure, barbecue recreational hubs and pathways from the business district to the riverfront.” For more information, putt putt or dinner bookings visit www.morganlivingriver.com.au, Or contact Mark Davis on 0428 643 018.
