His winning attitude has proven itself in sports as well. He played on Cal U’s baseball team, the 2010 PSAC champions. “Such a great experience to have scored the game-winning run!”
He’s a volunteer firefighter with his hometown Laureldale Central squad. When he came to Cal U, he decided to serve with the California Volunteer Fire Department.
A business administration major, Giovanni said his current goal is to have an internship with the Philadelphia Phillies.

hen Jerica Snedden first left her hometown of Carrolltown, Pa., to pursue her elementary education degree at Cal U, she got a little homesick. “But then I started to make so many new friends in my residence hall, and in my classes.”
She’s also a member of the Homecoming committee and the Alcohol and Other Drugs Coalition, among other activities.
Today Jerica is involved with the Cal U track and field team. She’s also a member of Cal Rocks. Jerica says, “It does a lot of volunteer work and it’s helped me in my future career, because it’s showed me what I can do to help my community.”

Alexandra is working toward a career as a juvenile probation officer, and she dreams of someday running an outreach program for at-risk youths. She credits Cal U for honing the skills she needs to succeed in the classroom and beyond.
Classes at Cal U are small, so faculty members have gotten to know him. “It rarely happens, but my professors are very understanding if I’m late or have to miss a class because I’m out on a call.”

arah Martik, a secondary education major, is enrolled in the Honors Program at Cal U. To immerse herself in the Spanish language and culture, she traveled with six other students to Chile for a 17-day internship at two different schools.

To nurture her creative side, Sarah appears in various theater productions at the university. Whether acting on stage or working behind the scenes as a stage manager, Sarah says, “The productions really make me feel a part of campus life.”
