Approximately 1,500 students live in the main campus suites, while another 768 make themselves at home in the Vulcan Village Apartments on the “Hill.”

A majority of main campus spaces are reserved for first year students and more upper class students choose to live at Vulcan Village. Students are given their preference of housing location when possible, but may be assigned to either property when registering for housing.

here’s no question. Living at Cal U is a lot like living at home. That’s because our student housing is among the best in the nation.

There are no cinderblock walls or long waits for the shower.

There’s so much room — and privacy, too.

Main Campus Suite Life The six smoke-free, co-ed residence halls located in the heart of Cal U’s main campus get high marks from both students and parents. All units are more spacious than the average “dorm room,” with air conditioning, carpeting, personal mailboxes, cable TV hookups and free high-speed Internet access. Most students share a bathroom with only one other person, and never more than three others. Each room is furnished with contemporary, moveable furniture, including beds, desks, chairs, nightstands and bookshelves.

Many suites include a completely furnished living room area, giving you plenty of room to hang out.

Each residence hall is equipped with a computer lab, community room, TV area with large-screen TV and DVD player, a full kitchen, game area and vending machines. There are lounges and study rooms on every floor, along with recycling areas and a laundry room.

A professional manager oversees the staff at Vulcan Village. A live-in assistant manager is available, and community assistants are assigned to aid the residents.

Students have the opportunity to live in the state-of-the-art Honors Residence Hall if they desire. The hall provides easy access to the University Honors Program offices, computer labs and study rooms reserved exclusively for honors students. Some residents find they can fully participate in the University Honors Program community by living here, because first-year students live and socialize with honors upperclassmen. But regardless of where they live, all honors students receive the program’s many benefits.

It’s easy to feel at home at Vulcan Village, Cal U’s garden-style apartment complex. Located next to Adamson Stadium, just 1.5 miles from main campus, these 10 three-story buildings offer unsurpassed comfort and convenience in an independent setting. Each private, air-conditioned unit features a fully furnished living room, dining room and kitchen, complete with a full-size range, microwave, refrigerator, dishwasher, garbage disposal and full-size washer and dryer. High-speed Internet, telephone and cable connections are provided in each bedroom, and the property has wireless Internet access. In most cases, you may choose your roommate.

Vulcan Village offers a computer lab with printing capabilities, a fully equipped fitness center, media room, a clubhouse with pool table and foosball table, and a convenience store where you can pick up basic necessities and made-to-order sandwiches.

Other amenities include outdoor sand volleyball, wireless Internet, basketball courts and an outdoor swimming pool. When you’re ready to head to classes on the main campus, just catch the free shuttle service.
