SINE NOMINE

CALL TO WORSHIP

Amy Butler Calvary Ringers This is the day the Lord has made! Let us give thanks— for our ancestors in the faith who have made this day of gathering with God’s people a reality; for our brothers and sisters in the faith who walk beside us to help find the possibilities of faith today; for our ancestors in the faith whose experience in God’s providential care moved them toward trust in God’s steadfast love; for our brothers and sisters in the faith who are journeying with us toward God’s new mercies every morning; for our ancestors in the faith who began telling the story of God’s extravagant love for us through Jesus Christ; for our brothers and sisters in the faith who listen to us tell of the hope and joy we know in Christ who lives among us! Let us live as stewards of both sacred past and promised future, giving thanks for the lives of these saints: John Alves Edna Burneston Wilhelmina Campbell Virginia Foster Edwin McClain Elizabeth McClain

MUSICAL OFFERING

Sing Me to Heaven Daniel Gawthrop (b. 1949) Calvary Sanctuary Choir

In my heart’s sequestered chambers lie truths stripped of poet’s gloss. Words alone are vain and vacant, and my heart is mute. In response to aching silence, memory summons half-heard voices. And my soul finds primal eloquence and wraps me in song. If you would comfort me, sing me a lullaby. If you would win my heart, sing me a love song. If you would mourn me and bring me to God, sing me a requiem, sing me to heaven. Touch in me all love and passion, pain and pleasure. Touch in me grief and comfort, love and passion, pain and pleasure. Sing me a lullaby, a love song, a requiem. Love me, comfort me, bring me to God. Sing me a love song. Sing me to heaven. (Jane Griner)
