Glorifying God With Money I believe you will all agree that money serves a big role in our lives. Well, the Bible also conforms, containing 2,000 verses that all tackle about money and greed resulting to fifteen percent of Jesus’ recorded words. However, here comes the spiritual significance of money as a tool to glorify God. If you’re thinking like, ‘I thought money is evil’, then let us go back to 1 Timothy 6:10, “For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.” Money itself is not the source of sinfulness, but how we perceive and use it. Praising God with money is really a simple mission when you put Him at the center of your life. One significant example from Zacchaeus in Luke 19:9, "When Jesus said to Zacchaeus, 'Today salvation has come to this house’, this man attained salvation because of his willingness and eagerness to part with his money for the glory of God and for the welfare of others." Glorify God with money, instead of glorifying God and money. As stated in Matthew 6:24 “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.”
1. Become a steward of money given to us by God. We should not make the greatest mistake of worshipping money more than we worship the almighty who gave it to us because that is where evil starts. Instead, learn to steward and share the blessings and possessions you have and you will experience real happiness. Remember in 1 Chronicles 29:16, “Lord our God, all this abundance that we have provided for building you a temple for your Holy Name comes from your hand, and all of it belongs to you.” 2. Worship money to treasure God. Lose your money to show how much you love God, not to show how much you love all earthly things. Worship your financial wealth to give honor to our Almighty Father since that is the true essence of worship. Remember in 1 Corinthians 10:31, “So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.” 3. What is money? Money is your temporary resources which are given by God to spread His words and gather all His people to enter His Kingdom. Do not fear of losing your wealth. Share, share and share all you have, because God will provide, provide and provide. Remember in Proverbs 23:4-5 Do not wear yourself out to get rich; do not trust your own cleverness. Cast but a glance at riches, and they are gone, for they will surely sprout wings and fly off to the sky like an eagle.” Truly, money plays a great role in our lives because it is one major key to show the greatness of God to all His creations. Also, God entrusted it to us so we can fully show our love and faith in Him. Understand more about human misconceptions about righteous things seen as evil.
