Love Conquers Fear In Your Relationships “Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. (1 John 4:7) Fear is a very strong feeling, but love is much stronger. Why? Because love defines the whole character of God so it comes from Him and fear comes from us - the sinful and weaker nature of humans. Therefore, if love arises from our Almighty Father, then it is the mightiest thing of all. “Love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it shows that we have not fully experienced his perfect love” (1 John 4:18) Fear weakens your relationship with friends and family members because it can lead to hate. You hesitate to show that you care because you are afraid of a deep commitment. You choose to act not to hear anything and not involve in the family discussion regarding a problem because you are afraid to end up as the wrongful one. In Proverbs 10:12 says, “Hatred stirs up conflict, but love covers over all wrongs.”
Yes, it’s a common conflict within ourselves as human beings. We long for one’s company, yet we fear to commit and attach ourselves. We always want to feel loved, yet we have so much fear to show our love in return. So, did you even consider the what if’s? What if you offered a shoulder to a mourning friend to show that you are someone he/she can rely on? What if you sit down with your siblings and parents then speak out with all sincerity your own perspective of a certain matter? What if you took the risk of taking the action with all your heart and with all the love you can give? From fear to hate; it will lead to insecurity which blocks intimacy and broken relationships. That is why when you want to build a connection you have to love the person first because other virtues will follow such as trust, honesty, and happiness. Therefore, build a castle out of love, not a wall due to insecurity. As stated in Colossians 3:14, “And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.” Love makes you selfless. You must put first what’s best for the many. Say for example, you have to preach the message of God from the bible in front of a huge crowd. You don’t need to be afraid and be conscious if your focus is to bring God directly to their hearts and usher them towards God. To put it simply, put your focus to another person in a relationship and gain strength to drive out fear in your life. How to remove fear, hate and insecurity? Fill yourself with God’s presence and experience His love fully. And follow His commandment in Matthew 22:37-39, “Jesus replied: “ ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’” Enjoy a life with God as your captain. You don’t have to carry the burden of pleasing the people around you because you already know that your creator loves you and cares for you more than anyone else. You know that you are worthy in every way. Get up now and begin understanding how much God loves you.
