Many people in the world live in a Indefinite life. For those tramps, the street is their home. For those travellers and zoologist, wild and hotel would be their home. For those workers, the construction site is their home. The initialative of the project is to create a temporary house as the alternative of portable dwellings. The temporary house in the project should fullfill the basic the basic human needs in a house. Besides, the house supposed to be assembly and disassembly easily. The using of MortiseTenon structure can fullfill this purpose. The Mobility of the shelter should be highlighted since the shelter is a temporary house. It have to be easy for the owner to ship and locate easily. In order to save more resources from rebuild and repair this shelter and full-fill the need of being sustainable, this shelter have to be durable. Besides durability, the economy is also critical. The materials was used by the shelter shoud be low-cost materials to ensure the shelter is affordable . Last but not least, the house should be modularized to maximize the flexibility of the temporary house. The house was consisted with different units. In this case, the spece and formation of the temporary could be diverse. 5

The statistic of WKU’s official shows that 65% of the student are having conflict with their roommate in the dormitory. Over 50% of students believe that the appartment layout design of the dormitory is the cause of the conflict because it dose not provide privacy to the resident in that dormitory. A lot of students also stated that the lack of communication between residents in the dormitory is also a cause of the tension relationship between residents. The theme of the project is “Wall“. In this case, I designed a way to refine the dormitory of Wenzhou Kean University. The dormitory of Wenzhou Kean University was consisted with 2 bedroom, 1 living room and 1 bathroom. A standard Wenzhou Kean University’s dormitory will be shared by 4 residents. The floor height of the doemitory is 4 meters. Each bedroom will be shared by 2 residents. 2/3 of the space in one dormitory was occupied by bedroom, in this case, the lack of communication between residents with in one room will not be enough. The weakness of the design of the layout of the dormitory is that the connection between the residents was blocked by the living room between 2 bedrooms. A room shared by 2 residents is also a weakness of the layout design of Wenzhou Kean University’s dormitory. Because university students usually need space for their privacy, however, the layout design of Wenzhou Kean University’s dormitory gave the residents ability to invade their roommate’s privacy. The goal of the project is to reallocate the space of the dormitory. By providing more space for students to stay together and rebuild relationship within the dormitory and creating more space for students to stay alone privately, the student will feel more comfortable to live in the dormitory of Wenzhou Kean University. Since the dormitory have an impressive height which is 4 meters, and the the area of the dormitory is approximate 53 square meters, the dormitory will surly have enough space to be re-allocated. 12

In the October of 2017, I traveled to Suzhou, Jiangsu Province. As a city famous for its ancient Chinese garden, Suzhou has its distinguishing advantage in architecture. and landscape. The first distination for my trip is theThe Humble Administrator’s Garden. Before visited the garden, I went to lunch in a restaurant near it. The restaurant was built on across the river, as what had been shown in the picture. However, the architecture of that restaurant have greater potiential than being just a restaurant. The distance between restaurant and The Humble Administrator’s Garden is within 500m. Considiering the The Humble Administrator’s Garden is the most popular tourist attraction in Suzhou, the Inn and hotel near it is insufficient to fulfill the demand of tourists. More over, The Humble Administrator’s Garden is not the only tourist attraction near the restaurant. Pingjiang Road, one of the most famous historical block, is at the north-east of the restaurant. After went back to my university, I started to conceive this project. Since the younger aged tourist occupied a large percentage of the total tourist went to Pingjiang Road, and the insufficient of hotel, I decided to reconstruct the original building and make it become an Inn x Bar. The name of this project is Cross, since the architecture itself is accrosing the river, the function of the architecture is a crossover, and it serves both locals and tourists. 19

Project MIX Void and Solid Individual Work Urban Spece Study 2018. Jul

In the Book of Change, one of the most important opinion is that the transformation among void and solid. From the perspective of an architect, this opinion is valuable because it is the enlightment of designing the space of an architectrure. The void, often be considerred as the less funtional part in the architecture, like the passege, of a open space. The solid was often descripted as the fonctional part int he architecture. For example, the hall or the class room. In a relativily more quiet place like library or museum, the tranformation between void and solid might occur. In the business school of Wenzhou Kean University, one of the class room was connected to the passege and the courtyard. Sometimes the students can listen to the lecture in that class room when they pass by.
