Introduction This book will tell you interesting things about the sea otter.
Characteristics The sea otter has lots of fur. The sea otter is the size of a house cat. The sea otter is going to become extinct because people are hunting it and destroying its habitat.
Habitat The sea otter lives in California. It lives near the shore where the kelp is. The sea otter needs to be there so that it can wrap itself in the kelp so that it does not float away into the deep sea where there is not much food.
Diet The sea otter eats clams and sea urchins, mussels, crabs, abalone, sea anemones and fish.
Behavior The sea otter floats on the top of the ocean. It uses tools such as rocks to open clams and abalone shells.

Life Cycle The sea otter is not oviporous. The sea otter starts inside the mother's stomach. The mother takes care of the baby and it grows and matures until it slowly turns into a grown up.
