Dr Kaye Price is an Aboriginal Australian whose career has been as a teacher, policy maker, manager, consultant and researcher on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander education issues. Dr Price’s current role is Research Associate with the More Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Teachers Initiative (MATSITI) project and supervisor of PhD candidates. Dr Price’s other roles have included being a primary school teacher; an education officer
with the federal government; Aboriginal Education Consultant with the ACT Department of Education; coordinator of the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies Project; a curriculum writer (Curriculum Corporation); Director of the Ngunnawal Higher Education Centre at the University of Canberra; Project Officer (Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority); a member of the National Aboriginal Education Committee; and a member of the Indigenous Higher Education Advisory Council (IHEAC). In 2004 Dr Price was awarded the NAIDOC Scholar of the Year; 2006 ACT NAIDOC Scholar of the Year; in 2007 ACT Senior Australian of the Year and Fellowship of the Australian College of Education (FACE); and in 2008 at the World Indigenous Peoples Conference: Education (WIPC:E) was named an Education Warrior.
