Cambridge Football Club - The Red Review 16/04/2022
The History of Cambridge Football Club Cambridge FC was established in 1948, based in the heart of the town. In 1967, Cambridge moved from the city to our new home on Vogel Street known as John Kerkhof Park - named after one of our great former club presidents. In 1974 Cambridge competed for the first time in the Northern League and played in the competition in various tiers of the league till the present day with only a few years playing in WaiBOP Premiership. In 2013 Cambridge was appointed as the home ground for WaiBOP United in the National League. In 2015, CFC hosted its first international match between Fiji and Hungary, as the teams preparation for the Under 20 FIFA World Cup. Cambridge has had its share of professional and internationally capped players coming through the ranks of the club. Notably players like Chris Wood, Che Bunce, Katie Duncan and Andrea Rogers have all worn the red and white stripes. In recent years Cambridge has had 4 players represent New Zealand at age group world cups as well as a handful of players playing for the national futsal team as well.

Coaches Corner - The First of Many! On behalf of Cambridge Football Club, we would firstly like to welcome all Hibiscus Coast players, staff & travelling supporters to John Kerkhof Park for the season opener of the NRFL league for 2022. On behalf of the coaching staff, we would like to thank the committee & club volunteers for their continued effort, support & help to get our season underway. Recruiting & retaining players started as early as October 2021. Having only lost 3 players from the previous years squad, we have been fortunate enough to bring back some previous players; Theo Petropoulos, Glen Carmichael & David Smith. We have bought in the likes of Anton Ganas, Matthew Nixon, Hamish Watt & even ex Solomon Islands International Michael Fifi'i. After a good pre-season starting mid-January, we are very happy and pleased with the intensity & hard work the players have all put in. With the changes in the league structure for 2023, this makes the division even more challenging with all clubs already being of a good standard, this only adds to the intensity. With the promotion of Ngaruawahia into the division, alongside Claudelands rovers already in the Division 2 league, we can look forward to 2 Waikato derby games... We will need our supporters there for those! In short, we are beyond excited for the season ahead and to be able to see the hard work, commitment & dedication our lads have put in. We will be proud to see the implementation of our structure, shape and gameplay on the field finally! We plan to take each game one at a time with our strong belief in our squad. We will see where this takes us & look forward to the journey ahead.

Our Women - Waikato Division 1
On Sunday 10th April, our ladies took on Claudelands Rovers in the hot sun! Positive attitude & culture across the whole team both on and off the field. We're very excited to take on the rest of the season. The team worked very well together both halves & we are very proud of such a great result. Next Home Game: May 1st, against Waikato Unicol (Division 1)
