The History of Cambridge Football club
Cambridge FC was established in 1948, based in the heart of the town. In 1967, Cambridge moved from the city to our new home in Vogel Street known as John Kerkhof Park - named after one of our great former club presidents.
In 1974, Cambridge competed for the first time in the Northern League and played in the competition in various tiers of the league till the present day with only a few years playing in WaiBOP Premiership.
In 2013, Cambridge was appointed as the home ground for WaiBOP United in the National League. In 2015, CFC hosted its first international match between Fiji and Hungary, as the teams preparation for the Under 20 FIFA World Cup.
Cambridge has had its share of professional and international capped players coming through the ranks of the club. Notably players like Chris Wood, Che Bunce, Kate Duncan and Andrea Rogers have all worn the red and white stripes. In recent years Cambridge has had 4 players represent New Zealand at age group world cups as well as a handful of players playing for the national futsal team as well.
OUR CAMBRIDGE REDS
MENS 1ST TEAM 2023
Coaches Words: Welcome to the 2023 season which looks to be a competitive competition with the new structure of the NRFL southern conference. I’m pleased to have kept the majority of the core players from last season with a few starters leaving to try their luck playing at a higher level and we wish them all the best doing so. The new additions to the squad we welcome who have a vast amount of experience playing at different levels throughout the NRFL and Waibop league setups which will help provide great experience to the group for the season. It’s great to have a quality coaching staff in place with Ben Dixon and Hayden Miller onboard along with goalkeeper coach Kim Brierley returning for another season and having a great manager and good friend come across with me from Wanderers Allan Campbell. The squad has taken shape during the course of preseason and the players are ready to compete and have a successful season especially with the 75th Jubilee this year. I’m extremely excited to see what this group is capable of along with the development of our young players within the club that have moved into the reserve/u23 team.

Grassroots Womens Tournament
On Sunday the 19th of March 2023 our Cambridge Womens Red and White team competed in The Grassroots Womens tournament which was held at our very own John Kerkhof Park. We had 12 teams enter this jammed packed football day which consisted of five 30 minute games. Our Cambridge Red team won the Hilary Cup which was sponsored by our very own Hilary Eyres, Taupo won the plate and Rotorua won the bowl. Special mention to Mount Maunganui for their amazing performance and coming runner up to the cup.
We would like to say a special thanks to Cambridge Body Performance Clinic and to Cy-Co the Cycle Company for their amazing support to all involved on the day - you guys rock!
We would like to say a special thanks to all refs, supporters and to our womens management team for helping the day run smoothly
Till next year!
