Dear Sir/Madam, Thank you for taking the time to review this compilation of my work. I completed my architectural studies in Quito, Ecuador and I graduated from the Master of Arts in Scenography at the Hogeschool voor de Kunsten Utrecht (HKU). Currently, I am looking for an opportunity to join a creative team where I can continue enhancing my skills as a contemporary creative and designer. In the course of my career I have acquired various skills that are required among the different stages of a creative project; such as, research and development of design concepts, technical drawing, project coordination and supervision. The generation of creative concepts is one of my main passions, as well as the process of transforming a narrative into a static design or a spatial experience. My experience in different creative fields; such as: architecture, scenography, graphic design and advertising, not only enriched my professional skills, but also expanded my perspective as a multidisciplinary designer. These practices challenged me to get involved in different activities such as generating spatial installations with performative elements, developing creative concepts for different brands and products, designing covers for promotional posters and magazines and putting together an architectural design. Developing a multidisciplinary creative point of view has given me the impulse to always be eager for self-improvement and to maintain my curiosity for innovative concepts and new techniques. My current software skills are Adobe Creative Suite with an emphasis in Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign, AutoCAD, SketchUp and Microsoft Office. My international background has given me the opportunity to develop great interpersonal communication skills as well as the capacity to easily adjust to new environments and to have a positive problem solving attitude. I have professional proficiency in English and Spanish, and a B1 level in Dutch which I am currently actively improving. As a creative and hard worker designer I am sure that my professional skills and experience could be an advantage for your work. I would strongly appreciate the possibility to join your team and promise to make the best out of the opportunity. If you have any further questions regarding my professional or academic background, or any other matter, please feel free to contact me. Again, thank you for reviewing my portfolio. I look forward to hearing from you in the near future. Kind regards, Camila Caiza

Every year Eigen Fabrikaat shows their gratitud to their friends with a fun activation during the Dutch celebration of Sinterklaas. On 2020, in the context of the pandemic, two fun videos were created: one where Sinterklaas is

looking for everyone to deliver his gifts, but unfortunately because of the situation no one is there to receive them, and another one where he shows how everyone is proudly wearing his gifts after he finally found them. The gift is a face mask, but not any face mask. It’s one with the famous beard of the Sint! This joyful package came together with a poem written by the Sint himself wishing them the best during these trying times. People could show their reactions on social media with the hashtag #EigenSint.

This video installation was shown as the final representative part of the Master Research Project ‘Multi-layered Atmospheres’ developed over the course of two years within the frame of the Master in Scenography. It explores the study of the different consciousness layers and its spatial perception. The visual and conceptual material was collected through two main stages: one related to the study of my own unconscious side through my dreams and the other one connected to an exploration of the city as the stage of the waking hours (the ‘conscious’ side). This experimentation with my dream´s material and the imagery taken from the city, led to a space where the dreaming and the waking hours encounter each other in an attempt to merge the different layers composing ‘reality’.

This installation was developed as part of a spatial and aesthetic exploration related to the concept of the ´Shadow´archetype proposed by Carl Jung. After some visual experimentation with the collected material from my personal dream´s diary and the imagery collected from the city, I selected one of the dreams that reflects my perception of the ‘Shadow’ archetype concept and the visual material connected to it. This material was used on different try outs to generate a spatial experience. Different objects and compositions were explored to create a specific atmosphere that could show the merge of the image from the dream and the material collected from the city.
´The meeting with oneself is, at first, the meeting with one´s own shadow. The shadow is a tight passage, a narrow door, whose painful constriction no one is spared who goes down to the deep well.’ -Carl Jung-

and Visual Arts
The performing and visual arts center is located in Machachi, Ecuador. The concept of the project is based on the strengthening of the city´s identity and its population, but also the development and preservation of the cultural and natural heritage. The main conflict that the project analyses and pretend to solve is the progressive loss of the rich heritage of the city that is caused by the vulnerable identity of its habitants. Therefore, the architectonical object was designed based on the statement of “ the enhancement of the city´s cultural and natural heritage in order to encourage the development of the most vulnerable population which would improve their life´s quality.”

The main strategy used to design the urban plan was to develop a circuit that connects inherited stations represented by different projects. The leading purpose of the project is to provide and educative space for children and disabled people in the specific subject of performative and visual arts.

The axis of the architectonical program is the arts school, but is complemented by the public spaces like the theater and the cinema. The program of the project is divided in four areas: educative, exhibition, meeting and health. These areas are connected by an empty space (courtyard) that crosses the building vertically, not only relating all the spaces visually, but also providing light and air to them, which are basic elements in architecture. page 35
