Management and Leadership Certificate Program Certificate Overview To pursue a professional certificate in management and leadership, the following is required: • A formal application must be requested before or soon after beginning the course work. • Completion of 98 hours of organized instruction, or 9.8 Continuing Education Units (CEUs). This consists of seven courses, each meeting for two seven-hour sessions.* • Courses must be completed within two years of entering the program to earn the certificate. Additionally, applicants must: • Meet all application and admission requirements and be formally accepted into the program. • Settle all financial obligations with the university. Skillfully Managing Change and Conflict Course# 15FMLC107 If there is a constant that all managers, leaders and organizations must address, it is change. How one skillfully manages change and conflict will directly impact the overall organization and desired outcomes. In this class participants will be able to address change, what it means to them, and how to positively plan for a change initiative. Change often requires the ability to positively engage team members and entire organizations for a successful outcome. Manage or lead the change in ways that are not productive, and the culture and morale of individuals and organizations could be negatively impacted. Project Management Essentials

To pursue a Master’s Certificate in Project Management, the following is required: • Completion of 84 hours of organized instruction, or 84 PMI Professional Development Units (PDUs). Because supply management professionals must ensure that contracts protect the interests of their organizations, the ability to understand contract clauses is a key skill. Understanding the FAR Cost Principles Course # 15WFAC303 If you are in any way involved with government contracts, you undoubtedly know how crucial and often, how difficult and ever changing the subtleties of cost allowability are. Understanding and living with the conflicting rules on allowability and allocability is becoming increasingly important because of the government’s aggressiveness on advocating disallowances, even in the gray areas of law. In fact, many of the current disputes between contractors and the government are questions of cost allowability. Disputes stem from routine audits, claims negotiations and criminal investigations. As a result, contractors and government contracting officers have recognized the need to increase their familiarity with cost issues. The course covers basic requirements for allowable costs that are reasonable, allocable, and conform to cost accounting standards (CAS) and/or generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). Understanding the FAR Course # 15WFAC304 The Federal Acquisition Regulation is the baseline document which controls the Federal Government’s acquisition of supplies, construction and services. Nearly every government contract is built on the FAR; virtually every government contractor must have a solid working knowledge of the FAR’s provisions. Meet the Instructors William D. Agee, Jr.

C.P.M., C.E.M., CMN, CPE, CPP, CPIM, SSBB William (Bill) Agee has been involved in purchasing and materials management at various levels for over thirty-years in government (federal and state), wholesale, retail, service, industrial and manufacturing. He has degrees in marketing and management and is also a Certified Production and Inventory Manager (CPIM), as well as a Six Sigma Black Belt. In addition to being a speaker for ISM, he has held both local and national offices within the organization, and has written several articles for leading purchasing and business publications. Bill has developed over 172 educational programs for organizations primarily focused in the areas of supply chain management (SCM), contracting and purchasing. He is the 2005 ISM winner of the Howard W. Cosgrove Award for outstanding contribution to the profession.

Julie Bolich Julie has developed an interactive curriculum that challenges and motivates students to learn. She has taught students in grades 7-12 and has specialized in teaching pre-AP/AP English at various grade levels. She also teaches English Composition I and II as an adjunct professor with San Jacinto College. Her other commitments include using her Princeton Review certification to teach SAT and ACT testing strategies as an independent tutor. With years of experience and a passion for teaching, Julie will prepare students to confidently approach the verbal, reading comprehension, analytical writing, and critical reasoning sections of the GMAT and GRE. Julie graduated from University of Houston-Clear Lake with a master’s degree in literature. She is currently working on her Ed.D. in Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment with Walden University.

Mark Grieco MBA, JD

Mark Grieco is senior partner at the law firm of Grieco & Scalera, P.A. The firm specializes in corporate practice with an emphasis on contracts, software licensing, e-commerce, corporate formation, intellectual property, insurance litigation, mergers and acquisitions. He is involved in contract negotiation, implementation, and enforcement at the corporate level and serves as an arbitrator and mediator. Grieco is a member of the Florida Bar and the American Bar Association. He has extensive educational experience, with an emphasis on the purchasing module, and has a substantial background in computer, e-procurement and software issues. He is a frequent world-wide lecturer on the subjects of contracts, software licensing, intellectual property, ethics, international purchasing and negotiations. Grieco has authored Purchasing Contract Law, UCC & Patents, highlighting major aspects of corporate contracts and intellectual property.

Ron Klinger Ron is the Director of Operations at Express Employment Professionals, an HR Solutions and Staffing company with offices in Clear Lake and Galveston County. He is also the founder and president of Motivational Transitions, a company that conducts academic and career coaching for high school and college students and provides organizational consulting and staff training. Ron delivers staff training and development sessions for businesses, colleges and universities, and school districts. He has spoken at local, regional, and national conferences on Talent Management, Team and Organizational Effectiveness, Servant Leadership, Motivation, Goal Setting, and Quality Service. He is also a licensed practitioner for Insights Discovery™. Ron earned his bachelor’s degree in secondary education from Bowling Green State University, and his master’s degree in higher education administration from Texas A&M University. Ron’s sessions are interactive and dynamic, with high energy that will leave you inspired and motivated to take action towards producing desired results.

Jennifer Ledwith Jennifer has taught SAT Prep to students in public and private schools. She has also prepared students for standardized tests such as Texas Assessment of Academic Skills, Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills, Texas Higher Education Assessment, Graduate Record Exam, Pre-SAT, and American College Testing. Through private tutoring, Jennifer has helped students with math, writing, and reading from some of the top schools in the area. Her students have gone on to attend or graduate from the University of Texas, Texas A&M, University of Houston, and many other top-ranked universities located both in Texas and throughout the nation.

Marva Ledwith Marva Ledwith teaches the quantitative and integrated reasoning sections. Her workshops are full of practical “how-to” techniques for dealing with arithmetic operations, algebra principles, and use of geometry to answer quantitative-related questions. Marva’s years of teaching experience and Princeton Review Certification, “Beat the ACT/Beat the SAT,” will provide you with practical skills and techniques to increase your scoring potential on the quantitative section of the GMAT or GRE exam. Marva has attained a masters in mathematics education as well as a MBA.

Merle W. Roberts

Darrell is a nationally known government contracts consultant with experience in the application and interpretation of the Federal Acquisition Regulations and pronouncements from the Financial Accounting Standards Board and the Cost Accounting Standards Board. His work in these areas includes developing, implementing and reviewing contractors’ indirect cost structures, accounting systems, estimating systems and cost control systems to ensure their compliance with federal procurement accounting requirements. Darrell has testified in over 30 Board of Contract Appeals and Claim Court cases involving cost issues. He has represented the U.S. Government in audits of multinational procurement. For nearly 20 years he served in various capacities with the DCAA including assistant regional director, Atlanta Region, with responsibility for 10 audit offices, and assistant director in 3 functional areas: Operation and Professional Development, Resources, and Policy and Plans. Darrell has authored and co-authored numerous publications in the field of government contracting, including the books Pricing and Cost Accounting: A Handbook for Government Contractors and Cost Based Pricing: A Guide for Government Contractors.

CPSM, C.P.M.

Merle is an internationally recognized speaker and seminar leader. He has presented over 900 full-day seminars on a variety of supply management topics and has delivered programs in the U.S., Canada, Mexico and China. Merle is the Founder and President of Perpetual Frontiers - a management consulting firm specializing in business process improvement and professional development training for the supply management profession. He was an associate professor in the purchasing and supply management program at Coastline Community College for 23 years. He is a contributing author to ISM’s CPSM Instructor Courseware, the author of ISM’s C.P.M. Review Course Module 4: Management - A Self-Study Workbook, and a contributing author of ISM’s C.P.M. Study Guide. Merle is a past President of the National Association of Purchasing Management - Orange County, and has served as their Certification Chairman since 1981. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Management at Pepperdine University in Malibu, CA. He has been providing guidance and training for CPSM and C.P.M. candidates for more than thirty. He has received recognition and awards over the years for his outstanding work in the area of professional development - including being named the Professional Development Person-of-the-Year; Member of the Year; and the Leadership Award recipient by the National Association of Purchasing Management - Orange County. He was recognized as one of the top Nine Purchasing Professionals in America by Electronic Buyers’ News.
